Let’s play a little game; you might remember it. Organization is the game. Keep the rhythm; keep the rhythm ’till the end. (Who remembers playing concentration as a kid?!) Forget about concentration. The name of the game this year is organization, although a good amount of concentration will probably be required in order to make this happen. Basically I let everyone know that THIS is the year we are going to get organized up in here, and if you’re not on board. Well, you know how it goes, if momma’s not happy nobody is 🙂 So, that’s the plan. We are finally kicking the clutter ghost’s behind out of our house for good (we hope). Because- we ain’t afraid of no ghosts 🙂
I’m not entirely sure when the clutter ghost made himself at home here, but he is not welcome any longer. He is the one who is to blame for the lack of organization in our fifth house. With two kids, busy schedules, house projects, and everything else that’s been going on we I have given the disorganized clutter ghost a foothold and it’s time for me to put a foot in his ______- well I’m a lady so you fill in the blank there 🙂
Operation Organization is already underway. We actually started a couple days after Christmas. We cleaned out all of our closets. We made 3 piles.
1. Trash (for anything that had holes in it – ummmm…..pointing finger at the hubs and his ridiculous collection of fraternity t-shirts……sweetie, it was time to let go)
2. Goodwill (for anything that we were no longer wearing for whatever unknown reason)
3. Consignment (for items that we no longer wear either because they no longer fit (no judgement here) or because we just don’t wear it any longer but it’s still in style and in really great condition)
I’m a big fan of children’s consignment sales and have been consigning their outgrown-but-still-in-great-condition clothing for years. (I’ll be doing a post very soon about kids consignment sales). This is the first time we have decided to consign our own clothing. A friend told us about a consignment store called Apres Vous. They resell name brand high end women’s and men’s clothing. We thought since we had a decent sized pile of clothing that we just no longer wore that this might be worth a try. It doesn’t cost anything but a little time (everything needs to be ironed and on a hanger). They do the pricing and they give you back 45% of the sale price in a check once a month. So we’ll see how it goes! If nothing sells it will all be donated, but we figured we’d give it a shot and try to get back a little something. We’ve sold things on ebay before but this was an easier way of getting the stuff we don’t want anymore out of the house immediately instead of having to wait until the auction is over to see if your item has sold and then ship it to the buyer.
So, are you wandering what the clutter ghost (I call him a ghost instead of a monster because you can’t see him but he IS there)? See for yourself.

One of the three piles – this went to Goodwill. YAY, for our first tax write-off receipt of the year! |
Wow! I am a very organized person so this is insightful. I came across a cleaning business last week and found it to be very helpful. I think many should look into it because Shining Knight Cleaning has the skills, people, equipment and experience to perform the duties you need them to. They save you a lot more time. Enjoy and have a great day!
