I wanted the mantel to feel fresh for spring but still coordinate well with the rest of the room. This can be kind of tricky when your wall color is red. I love my red walls in the family room. It’s a bold color statement that makes me happy! It’s not for everyone I know, but everyone doesn’t live here 🙂 Anywho, I gave the mantel a fresh springtime look without using any of spring’s signature colors (except of course for the green). The best part is this look should translate well into the summer with a few minor tweeks!
Sorry for the wacky photo. Apparently I’m incapable of holding the camera straight! |
I purchased the urns years ago at ZGallerie. They tie in the wall color, and I just added some willow branches from Michaels to give them a spring look.
I mentioned before that I’ve been adding pops of blue in this room, so when I found this platter on clearance at Target a few weeks ago it was at must, especially at $4.80! The old books and lotus flower candle holder (Arhaus) I already had.
I used stemless wine glasses to add some height to my drake firefly lanterns (Willow House). I added a little bit of moss for some added color and texture.
I also wrapped the glass candle holders with a little grosgrain ribbon and brought in some fresh greenery. Is there anything preppier than grosgrain ribbon? For some reason I think preppy equals spring. Am I the only one who thinks this way?
My favorite part of the mantel is White Beauty. This is her permanent home, and I dressed her up for Spring. The hubs walked in and said, “Oh, it looks like White Beauty is ready for the Derby.” 🙂 Yes, she is!
I’ll be back to give you a little “how-to” on the easy grosgrain ribbon wreath. Oh and for those that are new here, check out this post here to find out how I whitewashed our old brown brick fireplace.
So, now we’re officially ready for Spring, even though I don’t have any of your typical pastel colors going on here. What about you? How do you like to decorate your mantel for Spring?
It looks great, I like White Beauty's seasonal attire and the willow branches a lot… I also don't do pastel colors for spring, I like to pull in greens and browns. SO. I'm with you on that one. I like it to look fresh and fertile like the earth, not like the Easter Bunny threw up in my house 😉
