One Totally Awesome Before and After

Other possible titles for this post:

– When Enough is Enough
– Busting Out the Christmas Decor
– Hot, Sweaty, and Dirty  (this one may have solicited some not so great attention)

Yeah, I just pulled a title out of a hat, but any of the above would have worked just as well.  I had planned to show you my newest paint victim, but the rain put a damper on my picture taking plans.  Hopefully the weather clears up soon so I can get some good shots.  Until then, I’m really excited to show you a before and after that is making me smile ear to ear.  It’s not a beautiful room transformation, but it is darn pretty if you ask me.

You see, I park in my garage.  I’ve been pulling in to this hot mess for months!

Pretending this didn’t exist wasn’t making it go away.  Weird huh?  So, on Monday I decided to go through the Christmas bins.  I wanted to get organized before I start decking the halls.  This dusty, hot mess wasn’t exactly putting me in the holiday spirit.

I pulled up my sleeves and got to work.  My back hurts and I feel like even after 22 showers I’m still not clean, but all in all it was worth the not-so-fun work.

Do you hear the angels singing?

I realize Martha Stewart would not be impressed, but for me this is darn good!

I organized the junk stuff into departments.

Hopefully, this will help us stay organized.  I’ll have to show you where the Christmas decor is being relocated.  I decided the garage is probably not the best place to store this stuff since it will probably just get covered in dust again.  Right now, it’s sitting in this hallway in the basement.

I’ve got big plans for that unsuspecting closet you see there with the door open!

So, have you done any not-so-fun-and-really-disgusting jobs around your home lately?  Oh, just me then.  Awesome!

Seriously, I feel like an old lady.  I’ve been using icy hot for the last few days.  I don’t think Coco Mademoiselle and Icy Hot is a good combo.  What do you think?

  • Looks great!!! Ummmm I'm not even wanting to talk about how out of control our garage is. We didn't organize when we moved in and just kept setting stuff in there….it's super embarrassing to even let people peek in there. You wanna head over to my house now and help me organize our out of control storage situation?? haha 😉

  • Seriously awesome! We just did some of that to our garage a couple of weeks ago and then I went and messed it all up with my Christmas projects. LOL! They aren't always the most fun or glamorous transformations but they sure do help keep our sanity, huh? 🙂

  • I'm currently on the lookout for some motivation to do my closets with my Christmas stuff. And let me just say…I have LOTS of Christmas boxes. The Hubs and I have been preparing for this for the last month by changing the look of the house to get ready to break out the boxes and re-organize! Wish me luck!! And good for you…and I know that old lady feel, even in my thirties.

  • I'd put the hoarded lightbulbs with my hubs-won't-release pile; he seems to pick up a new package every time he's at lowe's! but great looking garage. I'm going to forward the link to the man of the house 🙂

  • I think you should've gone with hot, sweaty, and dirty (c; I can't even believe the *HUGE DIFFERENCE*!!! I swear, whenever I get a space all nice and clean and organized, I just find myself gravitating to that space…hopefully that isn't the case because it's the garage (c: Lookin' good!

  • That is a very satisfying job well done. My neighbors have a empty two car garage that they blow off two times a day. Nary a leaf on it. I am in awe of their tidiness and kind of scared of them.
