In His Hands……..{Spring Mantle}

Well, I’ve been dreaming of snow all winter long with absolutely no hope in sight. We’ve had a really mild winter here.  As a Southern California girl you’d think I’d be happy with more mild temps, but I actually love having all four seasons.   I’d pretty much given up on the idea of snow, so over the weekend I went ahead and decorated my mantle for spring.

I decided to keep my chalkboard globe up on the mantle.  When I was a kid my favorite church song was –He’s got the whole world in His hands.  Something about that song makes me think of spring.  Maybe we sang that song a lot around Easter?

The clock was a Target find.  It’s actually a chalkboard too, but I like it plain.

Everything else I already had on hand.  The branch was a Marshalls find years ago.  The milk glass vase I picked up at a vintage shop.

The white ceramic bird tea light holder I bought at Arhaus over a year ago.  Brass candlestick was a Goodwill find from many months ago.  The books many of you already know are from the Twilight series  – don’t judge.  The horse (White Beauty) always lives here – she came from ZGallerie almost two years ago.  The black open back frame I picked up at Hob Lob (50% off) so long ago I can’t remember when.  Okay, I lied.  I did purchase one other thing fairly recently.  The butterfly banner was made from a set of note cards that I picked up at Home Goods.  I just hung them over a piece of twine so when I take this down I can still use them as they were intended.

Wouldn’t you just know it when I finally gave up on the idea of snow and got ready to usher in spring………..

Monday morning I woke up to this cold, white stuff everywhere!

We had our first snow day of the season!

We’ve had quite the crazy weather here in Kentucky over the past few days.  I want to give you all a sincere thanks for all of your sweet e-mails over the weekend letting me know your thoughts and prayers were with me and my family as we prepared for the storms and tornadoes.  We made it through safe and sound, though I know many did not.  The pictures of the devastation in Eastern Kentucky is just heart breaking.  My prayers are with those who have suffered.

  • Gosh you all must be so relieved. . .so thankful. I can't imagine seeing all of that devastation. So hard to wrap our heads around. The globe is especially meaningful. Beautiful mantel. I love the driftwood piece as well.

  • We woke up to snow this morning too! Crazy! So glad you all were safe and sound and when Heather showed me pics of her area I just couldn't believe it. You know that she is in KY too right? Your mantel is just lovely and those butterflies are the perfect Spring touch! 🙂

  • You have done a great job with the mantle, once again! I love the idea of having the spine of the book on the inside, pretty notecards and great idea. We sang that song/hymn a lot growing up – have not heard it sung in NY yet. Glad you and yours are safe, it has been heart-wrenching to watch the devastation. Enjoy the snow. We have missed it this season.
