Happy Tuesday! I made it through Monday and I think I deserve a pat on the back. Mondays are always hard, but the Monday after spring break is. the. hardest. I’m back today with the first part of the Color My World Challenge – home decor.
If you remember I chose the color grey, so when I found this painting at one of my favorite local consignment stores, Street Scene, I just about did a happy dance in the store. It not only has my challenge color, grey, in it but it’s married with my old favorite, red! Angels sing – here is my new painting!
LOVE! It’s an 11″ x 14″ flat panel acrylic painting that was painted by a local college student, though I can’t read the name. For any locals, the very front of Street Scene has an “artist” section where the store sells artwork created mainly by college students. I love supporting local retail shops, and I especially love supporting young local creatives! Apart from he fact that I’m trying to incorporate some grey in my entry foyer, I am just drawn to this simple painting. The artist titled it on the back “sad poppies”, but I don’t think it looks sad. I see mystery and passion. HA! The beauty of art is that we all see it differently.
It didn’t come framed, so I picked up this open back frame from the Hob Lob during one of their usual 50% off sales. I just used a little antiquing glaze to make it look old.
I love the way it all works together – the gold, grey and red. This picture gives you a better idea as to where it’s placed.
This painting was worth every bit of the $60 I paid. It inspired me, and I hope selling this painting brought some inspiration to the artist. I really want to add more art in my home. I’m always drawn to interiors with beautiful paintings.
Make sure you check out how all the other bloggers have added their challenge color in home decor.
Have a happy day!
