Fashion Week: 7 Wardrobe Essentials (Effortless Style)

Happy Friday friends!  This has been such a fun series for me, and I hope you all have enjoyed this brief switch to fashion talk for the week as well.  I really think that fashion and design go hand in hand as the two are really all about style.  The last but not least blogger we will hear from is one I’ve been following for quite some time.  When I first discovered blog world, I immediately fell in love with Camila’s Effortless Style (this was back when she was still trying to get her high-heeled foot into the design world).
She’s been featured all over the place, most recently in Adore Magazine

I truly adore her work and love her Etsy art shop as I’ve mentioned before.  I’ll let her take it from here!

Hi Sweet Our Fifth House readers!
Carmel has been a pal for quite some time and I was so excited when she emailed me asking me to take part in a fashion post! You see before I got bitten by the interior design bug I was all about fashion and oh so pretty clothes. Now a days most of my splurges go towards things related to my house, but if I had a wonderful money tree in the backyard on this house of mine here are the 7 wardrobe essentials I would splurge on.
7 wardrobe essentials
No.1: I love a good piece of statement jewelry. Now I’m not going to lie most times the pieces I pick up are from Forever 21. This 31 year old thinks it’s a time for an upgrade and I would love to pick up this beauty from Loren Hope.I wear a lot of navy so this aqua/green color combo would really work with a lot of my pieces. Plus it’s big, but not to big. Perfect in every way.
No.2: A handbag is always a great investment piece. It’s one of the items in our wardrobe that we use day in and day out with little rest. I have been lusting after this Clare Vivier bag for months now. Ah want it so badly with the gold monogram too!
No.3: Bathing suit shopping is not fun for anyone. At least it’s not fun for me. Nothing ever fits me properly. I love that old Hollywood style bathing suits have come back into fashion. They are a classic look that work so well on me. Loving this option from Anthropologie.
No.4: Shoes! I use to buy shoes all of the time. Then I got a house and that pesky monthly mortgage payment that goes along with it and my shoe budget was non existent. If I could have an unlimited amount of shoes come from any designer it would be from Loeffler Randall.I simply love all of their shoes.
No.5: Stripes, a bow and it’s Kate Spade. Sold! I have more coats than I like to disclose. They are such a great fashion statement.
No.6: I love a good skinny jean. They fit great in my boots during the winter and also look great with ballet flats during the warmer months. Paige Denim is my go to brand for jeans and I’m itching to try out this pair.
No.7: Dresses are always much easier to work with in my wardrobe. There is no having to worry about two separate pieces. Just a good pair of shoes and tights if necessary and a dress is ready to go. In looking at my closet I have an awful lot of orange dresses and this option from Shoshanna is on my ever going lust list.

Thanks so much Camila!  I’m a big fan of dresses too as they really are so easy to throw on in a hurry and still look pulled together.  And that Kate Spade coat is now on my lust list!
I’ll be back to wrap this series up with my own 7 wardrobe essentials!

  • Love the dress — although I'd have to have a few extra inches in the length… New spring styles are so much fun!

When I saw the necklace you picked, I thought of this one, too, that would look great with the dress: http://bit.ly/XOwbip.
