On the hunt for a floor mirror for our master bedroom I stumbled across this gorgeous campaign-style mirror from West Elm.
The size and style of this mirror is simply perfection. I really love the gorgeous gold hardware in the corners! I’m such a sucker for simple details.
Because I know a floor mirror is something that will always be “in style” and can be used in many different settings (i.e. could work in an entry, dining or even a living room) I was willing to pay the slightly high price (it’s now on sale for $279 down from $399). The one thing that was holding me back from busting out my debit card was the leaning aspect. I wanted a floor mirror that I could set up in the corner of the room, and because I eventually plan to have curtain panels hung on the window next to the corner a leaning mirror isn’t exactly ideal.
Target Does It Again
Still mulling over the campaign floor mirror from West Elm, I happened to be cruising the aisles at my home away from home, Target, when I noticed this floor mirror! It has an easel-style back, which means I don’t have to lean it against the wall. And it’s about the same size (slightly smaller) and color as the West Elm mirror…..but this one is a fraction of the price at just $60!
The only real knock against this mirror is that it doesn’t have the campaign-style detailing that I love so much. But that’s a fairly easy fix with a little help from the hardware store.
DIY Details
All you need is a drill, a screwdriver and these brass corner braces.
Lay the brace down and mark the holes with a pen. Then pre-drill the holes.
Screw the braces into place, and that’s it – you’re done!
I love an easy little copy-cat diy project, especially one that takes less than 30 minutes!
I’ve used this corner brace campaign-style trick a number of times. It’s such a simple, easy and inexpensive way to up the chic factor!
* Today we’re hunkering down here in Charleston. Praying for all those that have already been affected by Hurricane Irma and for all those in her path. I spent the morning cuddled up with my family on the couch watching a 9/11 memorial. We will never forget.
