Butter Cream In The Kitchen

Actually the new paint color in the kitchen is called Macadamia by Martha Stewart, but I think it looks like the color of butter cream.  At least it does to me.  It’s the same color I used on the ceiling in the dining room.

Here’s a peak at the new color in the eat-in area of our kitchen.  I’m saving the full reveal until all other kitchen projects are complete.  We’re getting so close to being done, and I’m soooooo excited!

The eat-in area of our kitchen used to look like this.  These photos were taken last fall.

Then we had the floors replaced because of this situation and it looked like this.

Now it looks like this!

I hired our painter friend to do this job for us because there was no way on God’s green Earth I was getting on a ladder extension to deal with these super tall ceilings.

I know many of you loved the color before (Porter Autumn Leaf), but I was ready for a change.  I really wanted something lighter.  The dark floors with the darker color on the wall really made the room feel much heavier.  It was just a bit too dark for me.  It was only ever bright in there in the morning.  Now, I love that it’s

and without a single light on the kitchen it still looks this bright!

Now the room feels sunny all day long!

You may have noticed I also changed the curtain panels.  The pattern of the old ones just didn’t work as well with the new back splash so I decided to go with solid white.  I’ll give all the deets on the new panels in a post very soon.

The other new addition are the herb boxes.  I picked them up a few months ago at Marshall’s, and I’m in love with them!

I made the menu chalkboard last fall and just recently started using it for my weekly meal plan.

This is my early fall centerpiece.  Just a little collection of bottles I already had.  Some wrapped in burlap and some in jute or twine.  I’m in love with dried wheat this fall.  I found some bundles, 3 for $10, at Kroger.  I only used half a bundle for this centerpiece.

These votives are from Willow House – annabelle iron votives.  I love it when the candles are lit.

So, how do you feel about a little butter cream in the kitchen?  Anyone else starting to bring in a little fall decor?  Are you obsessed with dried wheat like I am this year?  Please someone tell me I’m not alone!

  • I really love the buttercream, and the best part about it is that you can add whatever accent colors you like and it will look fabulous any way you go. Looking forward to more photos and updates.

  • Carmel… the new color looks great! I love the airiness of the new window treatments! I am so ready to bust out my fall/halloween decor, but I am holding on to the last few warm days of summer!

  • I love the dried wheat in your bright colored bottles. I'm obsessed with white pumpkins. I didn't even know they existed until last year; now I notice them everywhere. You can take a baby white pumpkin, hollow out the stem and, pop a tealight candle inside for a simple fall accent.

  • Yes, I am loving the dried wheat – I bought some last year and I keep moving it around the house. I love the way your room came out. The lighter curtains really soften the room and I can see how they make it brighter. Great job!

  • Carmel,
While I love the new look in your kitchen(really, I do) you must know that Im dying to know what you plan to do with those elusive Lowe's panels I was never able to find here!
Are you selling them?! Please keep me posted!
