Getting My Groove Back

No, I’m not Stella.  And no, I’m not talking about that groove.  ðŸ˜‰

I’m talking about getting back on the ol’ exercise horse.  If there’s one horse I don’t care for, it’s that one.  I hate running.  In my house the word hate is considered to be just as bad as any other 4-letter word, so that is really saying something.  As much as I dislike running or really any kind of cardio exercise I know that it’s important for my health and also for my wardrobe (you know because I want to fit in my clothes rather than stuff myself in them).

So this morning thanks to a little nudge/inspiration from Andrea, who commented on yesterday’s post that she made those muffins after going to the gym and Nicki Minaj, I took one step toward getting my groove back.  I went, I ran, I lifted (a little) and I FEEL SO GOOD!

Inspiration and bootie-shakin’ music = the road to getting your exercise groove back.

Speaking of Nicki Minaj, have you seen this?

I hope no one is offended by this – I realize the lyrics are a bit much for a little girl to be singing, but I can’t help but think that this is just hilarious!  This little girl was on Ellen a while back and Nicki Minaj actually sang with her!    Please don’t judge me for my choice of exercise music, I need something with a good beat to get this bootie moving people!

What do you listen to while you exercise?  Is anyone else having a hard time getting back to the gym after the holidays?  Ok, so it’s just me then – awesome!

  • Haha! This video is hilarious. I saw them on Ellen and about died. I say whatever gets ya in the mood to exercise! I love when my yoga teacher plays all that fun music! Good for you for working out. It's my least favorite horse, too!

  • I cannot find my groove, but when I do I will have a mix that consists of Michael Jackson, The Killers, Foster the People, Adelle, and Florence + The Machine. Good luck!

  • So glad I inspired you! I saw this little girl on Ellen and I laughed so hard I cried! I am embarrassed to say that I didn't even know who Nicki Minaj was until I saw that Ellen episode. I am so un-hip! Hey, whatever gets your bootie shaking!!

  • This is totally unrelated to your post. I was working on a project with horseshoes and I was looking for a specific picture of a derby wreath and after googling I found your blog. Very cute I might add. I saw that horse on your mantel and I nearly choke, I love it!!! Where did you find that?? I am in Kentucky too~

  • Good for you! I've been watching my husband get his groove back by running and doing crunches all week, while I shove 4 Oreos into my mouth at once 🙂 You're inspiring me….I need to get back into it!

  • Woo hoo. Good for you. That is awesome. Doesn't it feel SO good when you start back? I love it. And this video is awesome. I loved it when she was on Ellen. No judgement here–I have to say–Nicki Minaj has some good tunes.:)

  • Carmel, you MUST check out anything by Pitbull! His music is awesome for hyping you up. Check out Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez "On the Floor."

  • I completely agree!! When I workout I find myself listening to things that would normally make my ears bleed if I were not on the treadmill…it is what it is!! I have been back at the gym for the last three weeks and aside from my body feeling like it has been in a car wreck it going good. Though I find that getting started is always the hardest part…well aside from stretching those workout pants over my booty;) Good job on getting back to it!
