FAQ’s Answered

As promised last Thursday, today I’m answering some frequently asked questions.  Here we go yo.

1. Are your floors black?

Yes and no.  They look black from a distance, but when you get close you see that they’re really a dark, dark espresso color.  The deets on these floors can be found here and here.  They are bamboo, and we’re very happy with our decision to go with bamboo flooring.

2.  How do you like having dark wood floors?  Are they hard to keep clean?

Okay, this one I get A LOT so I am going to devote an entire post on this subject in the next few weeks.  For now, I’ll just say it’s another yes and no situation.  Apparently I should have gone into politics because I can answer a question with the best of them.  ðŸ˜‰

3.  How do you pronounce your name?

It’s not a common one is it?  It’s pronounced -Car as in what you drive and Mel – like the first part of melon. Basically it’s pronounced like the city in California although I wasn’t named after the city.  I actually have an Uncle Carmelo and was named after him.

4.  What color are the walls in your basement?

Chalkboard Wall Calendar

This image has been pinned a bunch (big huge thank you!) and many people have inquired about the wall color.  Well, unfortunately it was a custom color match to a swatch of fabric I found and loved.  It’s sort of a warm beige with a hint of gold in it – I realize that’s not super helpful.  I will try to pull some paint chips and see if any seem like a good match.  I know how hard it can be to find a good neutral wall color (especially in an area that doesn’t get a ton of natural light).

Last but not least my friend Andrea from Oak Ridge Revival, who also lives in KY, asked a funny question the other day, so I had to include it (even though it’s not a frequently asked question).
5. Do you feel like you’ve turned into a Southern gal living in KY and do you wear shoes since you now live in KY?

One thing is for sure……..

…….I’m definitely a CATS fan!  I can not wait to watch them play tonight!

While I’m no doubt blue blooded, I think I’m still a California girl at heart.  Although many of my west coast friends tell me I have an accent now.  I think after almost 12 years of living in the South and being married to a Kentucky-born-and-raised southern boy it just kind of grows on you.  The y’alls just sort of start rolling off the tongue.  ðŸ˜‰  I’m not a fan of sweet tea or cornbread (don’t hate me), but I do love me some cheese grits!  Lexington is a great place to live and to raise a family.  I’m very happy living here and yes, I wear shoes.  ðŸ˜‰  It is funny the preconceived notions that so many people have about Kentucky though.  Just to clear things up  – we have running water, all of our teeth, and wear shoes on our feet (mostly).     Y’all come back now ya hear!

I’ve got a fun announcement tomorrow.  No Mom – we aren’t having another baby!!!!!!!!
