I busted out the rub ‘n buff over the weekend. I’m addicted to that stuff! I promise to write up a little “how to use rub ‘n buff post” in the next day or so (since so many of you have asked for specifics). But today is Monday and I’m feeling too lazy for specifics; so instead I’ll just show you what I rubbed ‘n buffed (that didn’t come out right did it?).
I decided to bling out my plain white coffee table tray. I’ve had this tray for years. It used to be black until I painted it white a year ago.
Then this weekend I felt like getting a little crafty………and messy.
I pulled out the Greek key stencil (athena allover) the peeps at Cutting Edge Stencils were nice enough to give to me. I cut out one section to use on the inside of the tray.
Then I laid the stencil down and used rub ‘n buff in gold leaf. I did the sides first then the middle.
I also rubbed ‘n buffed some corner braces to add on to each of the outside corners.
Then I attached the corner braces and added 2 coats of polycrylic to protect and seal the stenciled pattern.
I love this Greek key stencil, and it took no time at all to do this little project!
I decided not to rub ‘n buff the silver screws because I like the look of the mixed metals. I also only used 2 screws instead of 4 per bracket – just because I liked the way it looked.
It’s not really a noticeable change when you walk into the room………………
but I’ve always loved little details.
What did you do this weekend? Did anyone else decide to get their craft on?
