Not too long ago I wrote a random little post about my “don’t buy” word.
I was pretty much shocked at how much this post seemed to resonate with so many of you. Kate included that post in her Best of the Blogosphere round-up and many of you were inspired to come up with your own don’t buy words. Karianne shared hers yesterday. Hers is a phrase too. You’ll have to head over to find out how her words are helping her get a handle on her “stuff”.
It’s amazing to me how a few little words can have such big power. Identifying what not to buy really does help you to define your style. It’s sort of a process of elimination as you stop buying, __________ fill in the blank, and you start only buying those things that fit your style/home perfectly – those things you truly love.
I’m glad to know you were inspired as you all are such a huge inspiration to me!
Big hugs!
I think this is such a great idea. I read so many blogs that make me wonder if the writer actually has a buying problem – as in buying stuff just for the sake of having a post for the blog. We all have way too much stuff, and it was so cleansing for us to get rid of half of our belongings when we moved. I now love having empty drawers, cabinets, and closets. I always ask myself how will buying a particular item make my life different or better. I also make it a point to get rid of one thing for every one thing I bring into our home. Plus, I get a kick out of shopping the house and using what we have in a new way.
