Our House Paint Colors

You all asked……so I’m finally answering.  I’ve always shared what paint colors I’ve used, but I’ve never put a post together of them all in one spot before.  I realize what a pain it must have been if you saw a color you liked and tried to find out what it was.  Even I had a hard time trying to find the right post that mentioned the color on the walls.  So in an effort to better organize the blog I’ve put all of our house colors in one easy to find post.  You’ll be able to find the above button on the sidebar from here on out, and I’ll try to do my best to keep this post updated as other rooms get painted and finished.

Just fyi for the local peeps – I often have colors matched in Coronado brand paint which is sold at Perspectives, a local Lexington paint shop where most of the pros buy their paint.  They are able to match paint colors extremely well, and I really love that brand although it is a bit more expensive.  However, I’ve also used the Valspar brand quite a bit and have been pleased with the quality.  In rooms that don’t get a ton of usage like bedrooms I rarely worry about paint quality, but in the main living areas I prefer to spend a little more for a good quality, washable paint.
Do you have a favorite brand of paint?

  • I love the colors in the family room, I really like how you got red, brown, blues and black to all match and look great together. Not to mention the mix of material, leather, wicker and metals. I am so in love with your family room. Thanks for sharing.

  • Love your house and decorating. Just recently found your blog and so glad I did.would you Ming
D if I asked you where you found the two glass lamps(with corks inside) and the shades? I know you put the corks. Also what about the mirror with the mirrored wedges around it and the mirror above your bed.? I see you listed all of your paint colors. Could you show the front door closer in the light so that I could see the, blue color.

  • Thanks in advance for any information. Have a wonderful day. Looking forward to seeing more of your creative ideas.

  • You can see more pics of the front door here -http://www.ourfifthhouse.com/2012/08/new-light-blue-front-door.html

The glass lamps were a Target purchase from a couple years ago and both mirrors are from Ballard Designs – they offer sales all the time and I've always loved their selection of wall mirrors!

  • I would never do what you have done, and I love it!! You can decorate my house any day.

I wanted to know if the tall dresser in the bedroom is new. It's just what I need.

  • Beautiful home! Your sign that ends "who I share it with" is cute, but I so badly want to correct it to "with whom I share it" or at least to "whom I share it with."

  • Love your house, it is so beautiful and you have great chosen great paint colors! Random question that has nothing to do with paint – what kind of window treatments are on your windows in the breakfast nook? Are those plantation shutters?

    Thanks!

  • I love all your colors — especially the navy in your bedroom! I could crawl up in those pink sheets and take a big ole nap! would that be weird?

  • Carmel! I love every inch and each and every detail of your house. From the stars on collin's ceiling to your love banner in the empty frame in your reading nook. LOVE IT ALL. And listen, what if I curled up in your bed with Cassie and spooned. Would THAT be weird?

  • Hey Carmel! I don't know how I missed this post from you before, but I'd love to feature your reading nook on my paint color blog (I featured your dining room a little while back :)). Let me know if you're interested! I saw you are going to be speaking at Haven, and I'm really looking forward to meeting you and sitting in your session!

  • Hi Carmel. I love your blog and check in often for new inspiration. Just wondering if you have done a post on your lovely floors? I think I saw somewhere you mentioned they were bamboo. The color is great. I imagine you did all the research on price and durability for kids and pets. If so, would you mind sharing it(if you already posted it perhaps and I am not seeing it)? :o) Thanks!

  • Carmel (btw-love your name!): I've searched and searched your blog and paint page – and I'm just not finding it (that doesn't mean it's not there – i haven't had enough cups of coffee yet maybe..lol) – but what is the paint color of the Black Door and Red walls you posted September 6, 2012. Thanks!

  • I did find this for black – SW All Surface Enamel in black satin – but I didn't know if 'black satin' is the name/color of the paint – or the finish? Thanks again for your time!
