This first Saturday of May is a special one for Kentucky. Derby Day is a kind of a big deal. I’ll be wearing a baseball cap on a soccer field, but if I were headed to the derby I’d be wearing something like this.

This one is a not a typical derby hat – it’s not large and in charge – but I do love it!

We were stationed in Fort Knox for a couple of years, but we never made it to the Derby (wish we would have!). I plan to make a Derby pie for Saturday, though! 🙂
I think we are going to watch it at Keeneland
Our son will be working at both the Oaks and the Derby but I don't think he is willing to smuggle us an entry bracelet. 🙁 We'll probably watch it from home.

I do love your horse art in your home and need to get me a horse somewhere in my house. The derby is on my bucket list, although I do wish I would have gone in my 20's… I was so much more fun back then, ha. I think I will go ahead wear my big hat on Saturday to the baseball game – do you think people will look at me weird?!?!
Hi. Just came across your blog via IC, I too are an on the move SoCal girl (currently located in the Gulf and prepping for hurricane season) and even odder is once hubs retires we are looking at settling down in Kentucky so of course I have to follow your blog.
This is only our 3rd home together but none the less I am struggling with the decorating and always looking for inspiration to make it our home. I really like the curtains in the reading nook, did you make them, if so what is the fabric name/maker or if you bought them can you provide that info?
