Woohoo! It’s Friday! I’m so ready to welcome the weekend. Let’s do this thing! (And no I haven’t had 5 cups of coffee, I actually only drink decaf now, and only 1 to 2 cups a day. I’m just really this excited for the weekend.)
1. I spent the first part of the week as a chaperone for my daughter’s 3rd grade field trip to 4H camp. Sleeping in a cabin isn’t really as fun in your 30’s as it is when you’re a kid. Little girlfriend enjoyed every second though and that’s what really matters.
2. These tassel sandals are my new favorite thing! They are so comfy, and I just love this happy neon coral color. They basically had me at tassels, so I just might have to go back and get the brown pair as well!
3. Were you there? Or did you shop online? Lilly for Target was crazy town! I got up early on Sunday and waited in line. When the doors opened I beelined it back to the home section while all the other women went bananas for the dresses. I scooped up the pineapple bowl and patterned plates and as I was walking away hoards of women swooped in like a swarm of bees and in 5 seconds everything. was. gone! My niece did manage to pick up a dress for my little girlfriend.
I know Target has received a healthy backlash of complaints regarding the website crashing and the small amount of inventory they had in stores, but I’d still like to applaud them for making great design available to the masses. I hope they continue to bring these types of collaborations to the market. I thought the price point was good in relation to the quality…….but that’s just my two cents…..what did y’all think? I did also keep thinking to myself…….why didn’t they do a bedding line? Wouldn’t that have been awesome?
4. The guest room closet is done! I’m working on the finishing touches and will be sharing the makeover on the blog next week! Yay for no more wire shelves!
Oh and these are the sweatpants I went on and on about here.
5. Last but not least, the hubs and I are going to the derby this year! It’s our first time going to the actual derby and not just a derby party. I’ve been outfit scheming and am having trouble deciding between the pink and white shoes. What do think? Pink or White?
The dress was a steal from Forever 21 last spring! I hate to buy something new just for the sake of buying something new…..you know what I mean? Since I had to buy a hat it was nice to save by wearing a dress and shoes I already own. Plus while I’ve worn this dress a million times I’ve never paired it with pink before so it’ll still look fresh when I wear it on derby day.
Style isn’t about what you can buy, it’s about what you can do with what you already have.
I think I might need to make that a printable! 😉
Pink shoes!! White shoes + horses and dirt/mud = massive disaster. Wedges would be even better if you have them!
I vote for the pink shoes to bring your whole ensemble together! 🙂 Take lots of pics at the derby! I can't wait to see! 🙂
White shoes!
Go with Pink!
That dress is super cute! Definitely white shoes. I don't really like the Target events. Sometimes they have fun things but the insanity of people trying to buy the stuff is just crazy. Nothing is worth being trampled for (and honestly most people probably didn't even keep what they bought they just snatched it up to eBay it at ten times the price). I've never participated in their events (I also don't do Black Friday sales either…in case you couldn't tell 😉
Pink shoes!
white shoes get my vote. but tell me about your monogrammed converse!
I'm not sure on the shoes, at first glance I say white, but pink would be fun! Have you tried both on as an outfit? Maybe put up a side by side and have us vote that way:) my only reservation is the pink shoe with the pink hat, they look totally different in the picture but that could just be the lighting?
Either shoe will work. Wear the one that is most comfortable! And take a pair of flip flops. You can't do Derby all day in uncomfortable shoes. And thanks for the positive note on Lily for Target. I agree the things were good quality for a great price. And yes, it was crazy town. Ha!
I'm all for the white shoes!! I went to Target the plates were my favorite!
My daughter went to the 'Event' in Spokane WA,with her girlfriend and there were only 4 other women, who were ALL buying everything in stock to sell on Ebay. She 'tweeted' that if you're going to spend that much on Ebay, just buy the real thing! Peeps are crazy! She got darling shorts but decided if she was going to buy a dress, it would be a REAL Lily! As for the shoes, I think the pink ones would be a pop of jazzy, but as someone else said, wear the most comfortable ones, and take flip flops…and 'girlfriend' is adorable and happy in her pink boots!
Such a happy, fun post! I say wear the white shoes which will make your pink hat pop. You are gonna look gorgeous no matter what but I'm thinking the pink hat and pink shoes might compete with each other for attention. Have fun…. I love Church Hill Downs.
Thanks for all your help! I think I'm going to go with the white!
Definitely take some comfy alternates. The walk in and out of Churchill is killer, as is the long day in heels. Have fun! The weather has been gorgeous!!
