K Cups – Organization

Do you have a Keurig machine?  We have one.  I have a love/hate relationship with it   – or at least I did.  I LOVE being able to make a cup of yummy flavored coffee in an instant.  I also love that my hub and I don’t have to agree on what flavor – he can make whatever he wants and I can make what I want.  We use to have battles when we had a regular coffee maker.  See, he likes mocha flavored coffee while I prefer french vanilla or hazelnut.  Clearly we had issues, so the Keurig machine in a small way has helped our marriage.  ðŸ˜‰  We both get our coffee, and we get to drink it too!

But, the Type A in me gets for realz crazy over all the dang k cups!!  We typically have about 8 different flavors on hand at any given time because as I just mentioned we like different flavors.  I had a system in place……..

but it just wasn’t working too well.  This cabinet goes deep to the left.  Every time I needed to refill these containers I had to pull everything out one by one in order to reach the “back stock” we keep in the rear of this cabinet.  It. was. a. pain. I tell ya!
So just last week I was at Target to buy, of all things, more k cups, but of course I had to pass by the dollar spot.  Lo and behold, the answer to my problems  – dry erase mini-buckets!

Each $1 bucket holds about 5 cups and 4 buckets fit nicely on a small lazy susan (also from Target, but not in the dollar section – boo) which means I’ve got 40 cups within easy reach.

And when I need to refill, it’s so much easier to get to the “back stock” as we call it just by pulling out these two light weight lazy susans.

This is SO much better than what I had going on before.  It’s nice to have all 8 different flavors ready and available!

I also keep a tray on the counter with all of our coffee essentials.

That little Anthro egg crate is perfect for k cups!  So, all you Keurig owners – how do you deal with k cups in your house?  Since coffee starts my day, I like it to be a simple process.  You know since half the time my eyes are still half shut when I’m making my first cup.  ðŸ˜‰

And on a relatively random but somewhat related note – how may cups of coffee do you have in a day? I’ve pretty much got it down to one cup a day -mostly, but sometimes I crave another cup in the late afternoon.

  • Aren't you cute! I love how you organized the K cups :)I love our Keurig and don't know how we got on before we had it. My husband and I too would battle over what coffee to brew! xo Kristin

  • That's so amazingly well organized! I love the coffee tray, too.

My aunt bought me the prettiest black and white Missoni for Target jar for my kitchen. I had no idea what to do with it, but I finally realized it was perfect for my k-cups. I buy mine at Sam's and keep the gigantic box in the bottom of the pantry. We only have two types of coffee since we're creatures of habit. I try to only drink one cup a day now, but sometimes I just need two!

  • This is so cute! I am going to pass this along to my mother. She has a Keurig and I think she will like how you organized your k cups. My hubby and I actually like the same coffee flavors and we simply use a french press. But we definitely disagree on tea!

  • Very cute! I love it! We also have a Keurig, and I didn't know where to store all our K Cups. Luckily, I emptied a long, skinny drawer just under the counter that the coffee machine sits on (it was our "junk" drawer) and filled it with K Cups! It works great for us!

  • My hubby is the only coffee drinker in the house, but since I'm an organizing fool lately, and my new SodaStream sits right next to his Keurig now, I think I may take some inspiration from you and put a little effort into our k-cup/SodaStream mix pantry section. I'll let you know what I do. FYI, Costco now has the best deal on k-cups by far. 80 for about $25 and they don't have all the extra plastic around the filter to help the environment. Bonus.

  • love love love the coffee tray. And both ideas are cute, clever & functional! I'm jealous. We have the same machine, but we don't buy many k-cups. We use ground coffee & keep it in the fridge. Someday, when my kitchen gets remodeled, I totally plan on having a coffee area where I keep my 2 favorite mugs, a spoon or two, some k-cups, and a pretty piece of art. Someday.

  • This is a great idea. I keep the K cups in a basket next to the coffee maker but I sure could use my counter space back again! I have some of those little buckets from the dollar bin, too, except they have a chalkboard front. Thanks for the idea. Oh, and how much coffee a day? Way too much! ;-D

  • Oops! We keep our kcups in a wire mesh drawer that the Keurig actually sits on top of. It's perfect, just slide the drawer out, grab the kcup and put it right in the Keurig! It was an Xmas gift from the hubs 🙂

  • I love and envy your organization! We keep all flavors in one basket in a cabinet but you have to dig when we are 'running low' on a certain flavor. My mom uses one of the carousel things to hold hers inside of her cabinet. But when there are a lot of people at her house she usually leaves out a cute little bowl where we put all of the 'used' k-cups and then dump it as it fills. It worked great at Christmas time when we were making tons of coffee and in and out of the house so much! And her adorable little star dish to temporarily house the used cups was just precious!

  • Great idea with the mini buckets and the lazy susan. I keep mine on a tray on the counter in what look like those fish bowls. Easy to see when we're low.

  • I totally just saw those buckets at Target – how cute are those?! I love your new organization!! We are not big coffee drinkers here but I do love a good cappuccino every now and again :). I think my caffeine intact comes in the form of sweet tea – I'm a little addicted.

  • My husband and I definitely have different coffee tastes. He is a straight up Dunkin Donuts PLAIN guy. No flavors for him. As for me, I love flavored coffees and get my stash at Home Goods. They have super fun favors and great prices. Right now I'm drinking Whoopie Pie! As a consequence of or different preferences we have dueling 4 cup coffee machines on different counters. He refuses to get rid of his 15 year old machine. I fear the day it finally dies! We get it ready the night before so all we have to do is press the button in the morning. Beth C.

  • What an awesome idea!! I especially love the k cups displayed in the little anthro egg crate, so cute! 🙂

I was having the same problem so I picked up a k cup carousel at homegoods on clearance a few months back! I think it was like $8 or so and holds about 30 cups! I store it right next to my mini keurig with sugar and honey close by. 🙂 I'm thinking I need to get a nice little tray to anchor it all together! Thanks for the inspiration Carmel! 🙂

  • Those buckets are such a cute solution! I love your organized cupboard but I'm drooling even more over that sweet counter coffee station! We've been trying to find the right spot for a coffee station in our kitchen and definitely have some cupboard swapping on the horizon to make it happen 🙂

  • Ok, thanks to your push, we got the keurig! Love it. Don't love the stack of kcups sitting next to it. Don't love that it's too big for my cute tray. How has replacing our coffee maker sparked a complete overhaul to that corner of the kitchen?!?! 😉
