It’s hard to believe that just one week ago today I was relaxing poolside at the St. Regis Princeville Resort in Kauai.
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been somewhere more beautiful. Kauai is truly paradise!
I have to give a huge shout out to my man because he’s the reason we were able to go on this trip. He was awarded this trip because of all of his hard work. This guy is the number 3 sales rep. in the country for his company. Put your hands together folks……(he’s gonna kill me when he sees this).
I have no idea why they made the stage pink that night? What I do know is that there are still companies out there that believe in the importance of family. During the awards dinner they honored all of the spouses thanking us for our support, and I was honestly shocked – how many companies do that today? #soblessed
All we really had to pay for were airline tickets for the kids. He was awarded 2 first class tickets and instead of trading them in for 4 coach tickets, we purchased 2 coach tickets. So on the way out my girl got to sit in first class with daddy…….
while the little dude and I slummed it back in coach.
It’s all good though, the boy and I got to sit first class on the trip home. Holla!
Our trip actually got off to a rocky start as we were stuck in the Atlanta airport for 10 hours! What a debacle that was, but once we arrived at the St. Regis Princeville we were like – what 10 hour flight delay?
The view from our room was spectacular! I would totally be a morning person if I could wake up to that every morning.
We pretty much stayed on the north side of the island near our resort. We went on a couple of hikes, which I really loved.
I was really proud of my kids for how well they did on the Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali Coast, on the north shore of the island. It’s a pretty tough trail for little hikers, but they were troopers. We only did 2 miles of it, but the views were breathtaking.
My photos don’t do it justice. Go back and watch the movie Jurassic Park and then imagine that you’re in the movie – that’s what hiking in this area was like.
We also did some kayaking. The only problem with kayaking is that it’s really tough to take pictures because you’re rowing, so all those amazing things you see you just have to tuck into your memory bank. It was a really fun way to see the island though.
There are tons of outdoor things to do – tubing, zip-lining, horseback riding, ATV, helicopter and boat tours, but I’m really glad we didn’t overdo it on the activities. We spent a lot of time just lounging and relaxing on the beach.

Heart Sunglasses found here. I don’t like wearing expensive sunglasses on the beach, and these are only $16! |
I met Nick Verreos from Project Runway! He was amazingly gracious and so nice – and he even gave my daughter a little fashion lesson in sketching – so super sweet!
And in other famous people news, Pierce Brosnan was also at our resort though I never saw him. Hilariously enough a bunch of the guys with our group that did see him commented that he was “the most handsome man they’ve ever laid on eyes on” – ha! He’s my favorite 007 that’s for sure. My girl was thrilled to meet Bethany Hamilton, Soul Surfer!
On our last night there was a luau and my hub was once again brought up on stage.
He never ceases to amaze me!
Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the resort offered a complimentary 30 minute photography session. Say what?! Do all swanky resorts do that? #clearlyimanewbie Pretty smart on their part really, as the photo session is free and you just pay for the pictures you want. And obviously when a professional photographer takes pictures of your kids in Kauai you’re going to want to purchase them all.
We haven’t had a family picture taken since my girl was 18 months old!
Pacific Dream Photography did a great job. I will treasure these photos forever!
It was hard to leave this beautiful island, but I know I’ll never forget this trip.
Have you ever been to Kauai or to any of the Hawaiian islands? I’m definitely planning to go back again someday. #6thhousemaybe #iwish
We went to Kauai for our honeymoon and you're right, pictures do not do the Na Pali justice! Next time you go you have to head to the south side of the island. It is like a completely different place! Thanks for sharing the pictures…I felt like I was reliving my honeymoon π
