christmas kitchen + breakfast nook

Happy Monday friends!  Can you even believe we’re just 10 days away from the big day?!  Wow, did Christmas come fast this year or what?!  Whenever Thanksgiving is so late in November Christmas just sneaks right up on you.  Being that my hub and I planned a little family Christmas vacation before the big day I decided to keep our decor really simple this year.  The truth is though I’ve been going for a really simple Christmas look for a few years now.  My game plan basically involves giving myself about 2 to 3 days to sprinkle a little Christmas spirit around the house and then calling her done and just enjoying the season.  I believe holiday decorating should be fun not stressful, and I’ve also come to find that less is more.  And on December 26th that motto really rings true!

So enough with the talky-talky, welcome to my Christmas-ified kitchen and breakfast nook!

Like I said – simple.  And easy.  What’s your holiday decorating motto?

  • If the plaid mug disappears don't come looking at my house. What?! So pretty, Carmel. Why haven't I thought to hang a wreath above the cooktop? I really love that. Still dreaming about your North Pole storage space, too.

  • I love your kitchen Carmel. So fun and festive with bits of red sprinkled about. I'm doing simple this year, too. We're in the midst of a remodel and I just couldn't manage a whole lot of much else. I actually prefer less decor! Love the Santa hat on the chair! You have a beautiful home.

  • HA! I'd have to hunt you down. 😉 Those clear command hooks come in handy for hanging things in the kitchen. I just take the wreath off when the oven is on or when I'm cooking – and it's battery lighted so it's really pretty at night!

  • I always think I will try the 'less is more' concept, but I just never do! We have an annual Christmas open house for the public, as we live in an historic home that people always beg to see the inside of, so I really do it up at Christmas, and everyone loves it. PLANNING is the name of my game. This year, it was Victorian with pink and rose running through the whole house. (Yes, hubby is a good sport!) I do love your touches of color, though. AND i love your plaid mugs, towels…and did I say mugs? Very lovely!
