Hey friends!  It’s been over a month since I did my last Caught My Attention post, and these posts were supposed to be bi-monthly…..so it’s about time for round 2!  For any newbies here, welcome!, this new blog series is basically a brain dump of all the cool things that have caught my attention lately.  Girlfriends who care, share.  😉

Melvin G

First up is some exciting news from one of my favorite South Carolina artists, Morgan Walker otherwise known as Melvin G.  I’ve been a fan of hers since I stumbled across her work at a local home shop and was absolutely thrilled when she sent me this gorgeous piece!  I just adore it!

I have another piece by her in my master bedroom and it makes me smile every morning when I’m getting ready for the day.

Anyhow, the exciting news is that she’s now collaborating with Chairish!  Prints of her incredible work are available in a range of sizes and come framed!  The new Chairish Print Shop is definitely worth adding to your radar!  You can also keep up with Morgan on instagram here.

Universal Thread

Have y’all had a chance to check out the new Universal Thread line at Target?  Because it’s good.  Real good.  It’s casual, comfortable style at really affordable prices.

I couldn’t resist this denim look tee.  It had me at ruffle sleeves, and I basically die over the fact that it looks like denim and feels like a soft baby blanket.

And while I personally wasn’t crazy about how their jeans fit me, their jean shorts I give a 10 out of 10.

I also think this cute little crossbody bag would make a great Easter basket goodie for a tween/teenage girl.  Is it too soon to be chatting up Easter baskets?  I’m sorry but as a parent I live to do two things: 1. Stuff a stocking and 2. Fill an Easter Basket.  🙂

M&H Woodworks

M&H Woodworks was the name of the business we were referred to by friends of ours when my husband was looking to buy a table for his new smoker.  I knew this small business was run by young people, but I had no idea just how young until the 16 and 17 year old boys showed up to deliver this table!

These two young men build really cool custom furniture, and I was just so blown away and impressed by their work, their customer service, just everything that I wanted to be sure to share their business here with you all.  You can follow them on instagram, and if you’re local to the Charleston, South Carolina area I encourage you to seek out their services.

This is not at all sponsored.  I just wanted to share what these incredible young men are doing because I feel like this generation of young people is often spoken about in such negative ways.  But y’all I’m telling you as a mom who is in the trenches raising a tween and a teen, this generation is doing incredible things!  And we as adults have an amazing opportunity to inspire and encourage their spirit!  So even if you don’t live nearby I would love for you to leave them an encouraging comment on their instagram to let them know what a great job they’re doing!

Yellow is having a major moment in fashion right now, and I am the driver of this bandwagon.  Give me all the yellow!

I love how fun and spring-y this color feels!

I don’t do yellow as much in my interiors, but I do love the instant happy vibe yellow flowers bring to the mix.

Beautycounter Red Color Intense Lipstick

Last but not least is Beautycounter’s new red lipstick.  In celebration of their 5 year anniversary, they’ve introduced a beautifully bold new lipstick that embodies their mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone.  With a satin finish and a fresh peppermint flavor this color really makes a statement in more ways than one.

This March Beautycounter is going to Washington D.C. to urge Congress to pass more health protective laws for the personal care industry.

Did you know?

  • Ingredients used in personal care products aren’t required to be tested for safety on human health.
  • When formulating products, Beautycounter prohibits the use of over 1,500 harmful or questionable ingredients.

For me this mission is personal.

Because she deserves better.
Because we all do!
Because I struggled to conceive.
Because I have too many friends that have struggled with fertility issues.
Because I hate cancer and the damage it has caused in the lives of people I love.
Because I have an autoimmune disease.
Because for many years I used products that contained ingredients linked to cancer and hormone disruption and had absolutely no idea.
Because we have a lot of things to worry about, but we should never have to worry about what’s in our products.
Because if we don’t fight for safer products, who will?

You can show your support by:

  • Texting “BetterBeauty” to 52886 to ask Congress to act.
  • Wear the lipstick and tag a photo on Instagram @beautycounter with #ThisTimeItsPersonal.
  • Help spread the word of this movement by sharing Beautycounter Red with a friend. For a limited time, buy 2 and save $10!
