Next year these posts will be a regular monthly thing around here. However, 6 out of 12 months isn’t that bad is it? Okay, okay, it’s pretty bad. But seriously my New Year’s Resolution is to be more organized with my blog post editorial calendar. As a creative I get a little…..”off track” let’s say. If you’ve been around here for awhile, you’re probably snickering to yourself as you’ve surely noticed. Room for improvement isn’t a bad thing. It means I’ve got something to look forward to, right? 😉
Here’s what has caught my attention in the last month:
This Incredible Christmas Home Tour
If you haven’t seen Gwen’s home for the holidays, go now. It’s truly beautiful. Her style is impeccable, timeless and fresh. And that’s a tough combo to make happen. Yet she does it effortlessly. While you’re peeking around her home, make sure you check out her family’s Christmas portraits. They’re incredible!
Podcast on Breaking the Diet Cycle
Do your mental health a favor before December 26th and the onslaught of diet season starts to bombard you, go have a listen to this podcast episode on breaking the diet cycle. Cassy Joy shares some helpful, actionable tips. And as someone who has struggled with body image issues for much of my adult life, I related so much to her story and felt compelled to share this episode with you all. One of the best takeaways from this episode that I myself had an aha-moment with years ago is that the diet industry is just that – an industry. It’s a huge money-maker often predicated on tapping into your self-image issues and well, this podcast episode could not be more timely. Let me know what you think after you listen!
Life Unexpected, Unexpectedly Pretty Good
I watch shows or listen to podcasts when editing photos, and one night I stumbled across Life Unexpected on Netflix. This 2 season show apparently aired back in 2010, but I don’t ever recall seeing it advertised. My children were young back then so I was probably busy watching Lazy Town with my kids (they loved that show!). Anyhow, Life Unexpected was unexpectedly pretty good. Short lived I guess, but even with just 2 seasons the last episode doesn’t leave you hanging and ties things up nicely. If you’re looking for something other than Hallmark movies to watch over Christmas break, you might want to give this show a go.
This Sequin Dress
So I just received a jury summons for, wait for it…..New Year’s Eve! You think it would be weird to show up to court in this dress? 😉
These Leopard Slides
I mean, it’s like how many pairs of leopard shoes does one person need? But these are velvet guys! And they’re 40% off! Somebody help me……I might need an intervention.
Enneagram & Coffee
There’s a new Instagram Account in town, and I am so down! (Down is slang for “into it” mom. 😉 ) I became interested, ok slightly obsessed, with all things related to personality types last year. Remember back in 2017 when I mentioned how much I loved the book Reading People: How Seeing The World Through The Lens of Personality Changes Everything? Well, this new instagram account has me totally nerding out and laughing out loud in agreement. Seriously you guys, if you’re an enneagram nerd, you need to tune in! The creator of the account is apparently going to be starting a podcast very soon…..and I’ll obviously be tuning in.
This Holiday Self-Care post cracked me up the most because I’m a 9, and I am literally hosting a pajama brunch at my home on Christmas Day. 🙂 Hilarious right?!
Ok, you’re up! Tell me about all the things that have caught your attention in the last month. Great reads, new shows, things you’ve seen online that you don’t need but really, really want. Inquiring minds want to know!
Oh my gosh, I took the enneagram test a few months ago and was blown away by it! I’m a 1 but only one point higher than 3 and 6. It’s complicated, ha. Thanks for sharing, lady!
