Hey friend! It’s been a minute since I’ve shared a new post here. Summer was busy in the very best way. My son graduated from college, we took a family vacation to Puerto Rico, spent lots of time with family and friends, and somehow I blinked and here we are with fall right around the corner. But before I dive into all things fall, I have a few house updates from the summer I need to catch you up on.
Starting in our bedroom.
It Started With the Walls
Innocently enough, it started with a new wall color. I had planned to just paint the walls and give our bedroom a warmer, moodier vibe.
Except you know how this story always goes. One change inevitably leads to another.
The thing about paint is that it has a way of making you see everything in your space with fresh eyes. And while I really liked the white cowhide layered over the seagrass rug, paired with the chocolate brown walls it just wasn’t working for me anymore. (But don’t worry, I’m reusing them in another space….more on that soon!)
A Washable Rug That Doesn’t Look Washable
My wish list was pretty simple. I wanted something with pattern and personality that would work with the deeper wall color as well as the velvet curtain panels and give me that warm, collected style I love so much.
I wanted it to look designer, but with two aging dogs I really needed it to be washable.
Thankfully, washable rugs have come a really long way both in style and quality! This Tumble rug is kind of a unicorn because it checks all of my boxes. It came with a cushioned rug pad which not only visually beefs it up but keeps it perfectly in place. This pad gives the rug that extra bit of substance and softness underfoot that can sometimes be missing from a washable rug. And the best little detail, in my opinion, is the fringe edge!
It’s giving me all the practicality of a washable rug without sacrificing the look and feel I wanted for our bedroom. Spills quite literally bead up!
Pretty and Practical
I love beautiful things, but I also really live in my house.
I don’t want rooms that feel overly precious. I want them to feel comfortable and full of personality, and I want the things in them to work for real life.
Dogs happen. Coffee happens…..Life happens.
But the best part about this washable rug is that you would never walk into the room and immediately think, oh, that’s a washable rug.
Because it looks so nice.
And the fact that it’s washable is just it’s undercover superpower.
