What Time Is It?!

My kids learned about HSM from their older cousin, and I have to admit I actually LOVE the soundtracks (don’t judge me!)!  The song above is my all time favorite, and it just so happens to be totally appropriate for today.  It was the last day of school for my son!  WAHOOOOO!  No more waking up at 6:30 am!
I was a self-admitted slacker when it came to a teacher gift this year.  Imagine how thrilled I was when while perusing my favorite blogs yesterday I ran across this great idea from Cassie at Hi Sugarplum!

A bucket of summer fun!  How perfectly appropriate for a teacher (they must all love them some summertime!).  She used all items that were less then $2 at Target, but Target wasn’t on my list of places I needed to go yesterday.  However, Michaels was so that’s where I grabbed my collection of fun summer items.
Everything was under $2 except for the dish towel and oven mitt set which was $3.99 marked down from $6.49.  Not a bad price for 100% cotton summer cuteness!
And how cute are the $1 star-shaped melamine appetizer plates.  Would they not be the best for a little summer snack?!  I may need to go back and pick some up for myself.
I just threw it all in the bucket and added a little chalkboard taggie that I made back around the holidays.

Thanks for the great idea Cassie!  I almost wrote “Have a bucket o’summer fun!”, but I thought that might be a bit much 😉

And just for kicks for all who grew up loving you some Fresh Prince and the DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Now that’s how you kick the summer off right people!  ðŸ˜‰

So are you a gift slacker too?  Please tell me I’m not alone.  What are your favorite summer songs and movies?  I also love Bananarama’s Cruel Summer!  Who remembers what movie has that song on its soundtrack?   One meeeellion points if you do!

PS.  I decided to edit this post to add that if you have a great, quick gift idea leave a link to it in the comments section so everyone can get lots of other ideas.  It’s always nice to share, and I love copying learning from all of you!

Oh and thanks for all the birthday wishes for my 40 year old man.  I may have some pics for you next week!

  • Hi Carmel,
The links to 2 favorite teacher gift finds was too long and difficult to interpret so I deleted previous post. Let me just say that I like, from Anthropologie, the Pinwheel Push pins and the Banderole Pencil set. Depending on budgets, these can be combined with other items..they are different, colorful, fun! Love the bucket of summer-never thought of that!

  • such a great idea! for my son's end-of-school party favors, i did the same thing except filled the kids' buckets w beach/summer toys!
