Old And New Art

A few weeks ago I showed you the watercolor I found in the garage.  To refresh your memory here it is.

The frame was a little worn and the matte inside was damaged.  I bought a Target poster frame and had a double matte cut at the Hob Lob.  Here she is now.

The frame was $19.99 which is not bad for a 24×32 inch frame.  It’s a poster frame that didn’t come with a matte.  It has a thick plastic in front instead of glass, so it’s not super heavy.  I love that the Hob Lob can cut a matte right there in the store so you don’t have to wait weeks to hang your print.  I chose to have this watercolor double matted for a nice custom look.  The double matte cost me $24 (a single would have been $12), and I think it was worth every penny.  It looks custom at a fraction of the cost.  To think this print was collecting dust in the garage just a few weeks ago!  Makes me feel like I should finish cleaning out the ol’ garage!  Who knows what else I might find in there?!  I love this newly re-framed watercolor and its equestrian chic look.  You know how I feel about horses if you’ve been around here for more than 2 seconds.  ðŸ™‚  It’s perfect for our Kentucky home.

Speaking of our Kentucky home, I couldn’t resist purchasing this print for the other side of the room.  I wanted to create a little symmetry so I framed and matted this print the same way.

It’s from the best print shop I found on Etsy – CAPow!  Her prints are fabulous!  I just love this one.

This typography map print pretty much makes my heart sing.  ðŸ˜‰

It looks so great with the gallery wall of Kentucky photographs by James Archambeault I framed from an old coffee table book.

I love my old and new art additions to the family room.  Anything that needs to be reframed collecting dust in your garage?  Have you been to CAPow on Esty?   If not go check out that shop now!  Am I the only crazy-for-typography person out there?

  • Oooh lovin your gallery wall Carmel, and the colors in your room.
I used to be a picture framer and there is nothing like a new matte to totally change the look of a picture. Getting a new ready made frame and custom matte is a great way to frame something in a finished way, less expensively. You have a nice touch pulling it all together!

  • Your gallery wall is AWESOME! You know this KY girl would drool over it. Love your newly framed art. I will definitely be checking out the etsy shop today.

  • It's amazing the new look you got w/ the black frame and the new matte. And thank you for recommending that Etsy shop – I've just added to my favorites!! I love that you can customize the print too – you may be seeing one of those on my walls at some point.
