It Had to Come Home with Me

You know sometimes when you’re out shopping, not really looking for anything in particular, just sort of looking around, and then BAM you find something that you never knew you totally couldn’t live without?!   Well that is what happened to me last week.  I went in to one of my favorite Lexington stores, Another Man’s Treasure, and found the most amazing rug.  It was on the floor crumpled up in a ball.  It’s honestly a miracle I even saw it.  I like to think it was hiding there waiting for me to bring it home.

This photo is not edited and is all kinds of crazy.  I’m in the process of styling the entry foyer table (which I did not paint- as you can see) for Fall, so there is accessory stuff on the floor.  Just focus in on the rug, mmmmkay?

This Greek key rug literally had me at hello.  It is a 60 inch round 100% wool rug.  Even the back is wool, and I thought for sure it would be way over my budget.  Mind you that I have no need for a rug at the moment, and I still have no idea where this rug is going to live in my home.  So imagine how fast I ran up to the register when I saw that they had it priced at $70!  I mean who would pass up a $70 100% wool awesome gorgeous one-of-a-kind rug that they don’t actually need?!  Not me.  Only a crazy person would do that.  I literally thought to myself when I saw the price tag, “Oh my shut your mouth and move out of my way because this Greek goddess is coming home with mama!”  Who’s calling who crazy right now?!  Don’t forget the #1 rule of the house; it also applies to the blog.  😉

So, now I need to find the goddess a home in our home.  I have it here in the entry foyer right now.  Pay no attention to the ceiling fan in the family room; it is being replaced with something gorg on Friday.  Can’t wait to show you that!  Ok, squirrel, back to the rug.

What do think?  Like it here?  I’m sort of loving the way the round shape plays off the round mirror.  I’m also loving the link in to the family room with the black/white rug and my cowhide ottoman.  Also if you remember the candle sleeves of the sconces, while hard to see in the above picture, have a Greek key pattern as well.

Just a happy accident, but I like that it looks planned while not too matchy-matchy.   I’m also digging the way it makes that entry foyer table (that many of you flipped over when I said I wanted to paint) look.

It is like the rug gives that table a more modern look which is kind of what I was wanting to achieve with paint.  The wall color, the moulding, the staircase are all just very tradish, which I do like, but I love a good mix.  Anywho, I completely respect all of you that said loud and clear, “Don’t paint that inherited antique!”  More often than not I tend to land on that side of the debate as well.  That is why I totally took what you said to heart and decided that if I don’t love this piece in its natural state here in the entry foyer I’ll move it somewhere else in our home.  That way the hub and I both get what we want.  At any rate, long story short, I’m actually liking the table more in its natural wood state against this rug, but I’m not positive that this is the right place for the rug.

Sorry for the poor quality.  The weather has not been great, and I’m a terrible photographer!

It might just be because I’m not used to seeing a rug there at all.  I’d love to know what you all think!  Love it?  Hate it?  Move it somewhere else?  Talk to me peeps!
