I’m Thankful for Taste Buds

First of all, thank you so much for your sweet comments on the sneak peek of our kitchen!  It is really exciting to see a room in your home transform into something you dreamed up in your head.  I’m actually sitting at my kitchen table as I’m writing, and I feel so blessed!  Thank you for being excited with me!  I can’t wait to show you the rest!

Speaking of kitchens, let’s talk about good eats!  I’m not a great cook, but I do like to eat.  ðŸ™‚  I’m not creative when it comes to food, but I can follow a recipe.  Thank goodness for blogs and Pinterest for providing me with lots of inspiration and instruction!  I’ve recently come across a few mouth-watering recipes that I definitely plan to try, and one I’ve already tried inhaled.  Warning: the following pictures will make you extremely hungry!

I found these mini apple pies on Pinterest.

Don’t they look delish?!  I love this idea for parties especially!  When I clicked on the source to find the recipe the link took me to a blog I had never been to before, but not to the post with this recipe.  Well, after a having a look around Little Bit Funky I not only found the mini apple pie recipe, but I also found this awesomeness!

Wait, it gets better.  Guess what you do to make these “homemade” donuts?

Boom!  I know right?!  Your mind is blown.  Your mouth is watering.  This is so happening in my kitchen this weekend!  Like, wow, yeah in case there was any doubt, I’m now a follower of Little Bit Funky.  She should call her blog – More Than A Little Bit AWESOME!

If those two recipes weren’t enough to appease your sweet tooth, there’s this.

Red velvet pancakes!  Oh sweet, beautiful cakes of red, how I want to eat thee.  What?  You don’t speak Shakespearian to your food?

In case you’d rather drink your sugar…..

You can always make yourself a hot cup of Nutella hot chocolate like Abby did.  She was also inspired by Pinterest.

While sweet stuff makes me happy, I realize I can’t live on sugar alone.  Or can I?  Probably not.  Although just because it’s not sweet doesn’t mean it can’t be just as tasty.  My real life friend and the best cook I know has started a blog, tarheelmom.  She recently posted her healthy version of Mac n Cheese, so I decided to give it a try.

It was good – like really good.  My son said, “Why do we even eat that blue box stuff?”  Good question kid.  It was easy to make and was devoured by my family.  It smelled so good I had to serve the plates before I could even snap a decent photo!

If you like healthy food that actually tastes good then you will love tarheelmom’s recipes!  Trust me people, the girl knows how to cook.  Take it from a girl who knows how to eat.  ðŸ˜‰

So, there you go!  Can I get a collective AMEN for taste buds?!  Seriously, thank you God for taste buds.  They make life so sweet!  ðŸ˜‰  Life’s too short to eat plain food – eat something that inspires you, that makes you smile.  For the sake of your taste buds, make every bite count!

yep shakespeare lives in our house… especially when a person has a 17 year old son who is trying to get on his mom's good side so he can pick his girlfriend up on the way to school the next morning. I guess that is what we get for exposing them to the KJV Bible at a very young age… it made their transition into high school shakespeare painless. (but I wouldnt trade it for the world!!!)

Oh and just for the record… the donuts are simply divine!! We made them the other day… where the aforementioned "child" said "you are making my resolution to wrestle this season waiver!" Hmm where did he learn to talk like that? LOL

Now I'm off make itty bitty pies and mac and cheese… oh wait I 'm supposed to be working on the sparoom… Have a great day!!

  • Yum! Everything sounds so delicious and I will tell you first hand that you will LOVE those donuts! I saw them on another blog a few months ago and I'm too embarrassed to tell you how many times we have made them at our house since then. LOL!

  • My Pinterest food boards are LOADED! I've been slowly working my way through them. Problem is, I can't stop adding new things! I've done a couple things off my Fall board lately. Good stuff. I post all the ones I try – if they're good – and then comment on the actual pin for later reference.
I'm a food whore, so having pictures all in one place makes me giddy. :o)

  • That Mac N Cheese looks awesome! Going to check out her blog now. I love finding new blogs! Well, new to me anyway 🙂

  • Anything apple-pie like is a hit in my book! And I must take a look at this mac-n-cheese recipe, it really looks yummy! Today & tomorrow I am preparing cocktail sized (almost)empanadas (because they are in puff pastry) with chicken and chorizo for 85 people for a neighborhood cocktail party. Thanks for some comfort food indulgence!
