Tablescape Inspiration

I took the challenge!

Considering that Katie issued this pinteresting proposal on none other than my birthday and that I missed the last challenge, I felt the need to definitely get in on the action this time!  So, today I’m linking/pinning up with Katie, Sherry, Ana, and Erin.

I pinned this

to my outfit inspiration board a while ago.  I’m not sure of the original source but I’ve seen this outfit on a number of fall wardrobe inspiration lists around blogland.  This outfit stood out to me for two reasons.  One – I never would have thought to pair that Burberry scarf with olive green, and yet it looks so great together.  Two – I already have that scarf.  Well, truth be told, mine is actually a knockoff.  I bought it years ago for $22.  I’m not usually a knockoff kind of girl but this scarf looks a lot like the real thing.  While I was definitely inspired to try wearing my scarf with a little olive green this season I was also inspired to turn this outfit into a tablescape.

I challenged myself to use only what I already had on hand.  I laid the scarf down first.  Then I put together a simple centerpiece.  I used a wooden tray that is the same color as the boots and handbag and layered it with moss and pumpkins ( I painted last year).  The wine bottle candleholders (were a gift from my mother-in-law a few years ago) bring in more of that olive green color.

I already had the olive green napkins.  To pull in the denim part of the outfit, I made napkins rings using an old pair of jeans my son had outgrown.

I hot glued a gold leather ribbon (I use for wrapping small gifts) to the edge and then hot glued the edges together.

Then to add some texture and interest I hot glued a crocheted flower (tutorial coming later this week) in the middle.  The flower also pulls in the cream color of the cami in the outfit.
I just stuck in a fall leaf to bring in more of that brown leather color.
The gold chargers pick up the gold detail of the handbag and add the perfect touch of sparkle to this casual tablescape.
I love how it all came together.  More often than not we already have everything we need to create a beautiful tablescape.  Pulling inspiration from a great fall outfit can give you the perfect jumping off point to get your creative juices flowing!
I’ll also be linking this up to the Tablescape contest at Centsational Girl.  Taking on a challenge and entering a contest all in one post!  Aww- yeah!
So what have you been pinning lately?  Anyone else inspired to turn your fall outfit inspiration into a tablescape?
