Rolling Sheets – Organized Linens

Can we talk about how much I dislike folding sheets?  I can NEVER get them folded right.  I’ve probably watched Martha Stewart fold them perfectly a billion times, and I still can’t get them folded nicely.

This weekend I had one those – why didn’t I think of this before – moments.  I picked up some canvas bins at Target and decided to roll the sheets instead of fold them.
Seriously, why am I just now thinking of this?!  This is SO much easier for me.  I’ve decided to group them by flat and fitted for each bedroom instead of keeping them together as a set.  I like to mix and match my sheets so this works better for me.
The labels are just gift tags (also from Target) with red circle punches taped on top and tied with a piece of yarn.
Have you had a  – why didn’t I think of this before  – moment recently?  Do you know how to perfectly fold sheets?  Someone please tell me I’m not the only person who can’t fold a fitted sheet to save her life!

  • This is so funny! I'm a huge linen closet / folded towels and sheets FREAK! I do fold mine though… I recently wrapped mine in a thick ribbon an labeled them with a round tag so that they are like a little Xmas gift 😉 love this idea too… Thinking outside of the "box" – Susan

  • I do fold my fitted sheets and the look is neat but not anything like Martha's lol. I love your idea and think it's a great solution to your problem 🙂

  • What a great idea! I have to admit I do fold my sheets but then I think my mom must have started teaching me the basics of folding sheets when I was still in the womb… seriously I do not remember a time in my life where she didn't have me folding sheets. (and yes her sheets look as good if not better than martha's….) however our boys can't fold a sheet to save their necks. So this is perfect for them… and for me to use in their rooms. Thanks for the great idea!!

  • I love this idea! I hate folding sheets, probably because I'm not good at it. I usually just fold them the best I can and then put wrinkly sheets on all the beds! I think when we move into our new home next month I'm totally stealing this idea, but I'll group them by set! 🙂

  • I folded some sheets yesterday and of course the fitted one is the messy blob of weirdness. I usually put it at the bottom.. so it's fitted sheet < flat sheet < pillow cases. Then the fitted sheet gets all flattened. It still looks ugly, though. I love your solution!

  • Oh, Carmel! Thank you! I thought I was the only one who was "sheet-folding impaired". I've never been able to fold my sheets correctly and I love this idea! I'm also lousy at ironing. I iron one spot and there's a new wrinkle in another spot. Do you have a solution for that? Yeah, I know. Dry clean! Haha! 🙂

  • Yeah, I'm terrible at folding sheets. They're just too large and unwieldy for one gal to deal with on her own! I love your idea! I might have to try something similar.. thanks for the idea!

  • Ahhhh!!! Where were you last weekend when I was battling the dreaded fitted sheets? 😉 I've watched the same Martha Stewart thing over and over and mine still look like a big ol' lump. This is genius and I'm now thinking of all of the other tasks I could get out of doing if I just put things in bins…hmmmm… LOL!

  • Fold a fitted sheet? Who are you kidding?! I already roll my bath towels, but never thought of doing the same with the sheets. I just might have to do this!

  • That sounds like a good idea, & I hadn't thought of that either. I do fold mine & store the sets inside one of the pillowcases. This method is working pretty well for me.

  • When i went on vacation this year i was on the lookout for space saving solutions since i was to be gone for two months so i decided to roll all of my tops and it worked perfectly and when i unrolled them they were still as unwrinkled as the day i packed and ironed them

  • I do fold my sheets, but they never come out the same. I'm still wondering how they get them so nicely into the packages when you buy them. haha. I actually roll my towels, so why didn't I think about rolling my linens. I'm going to give it a try. Then I might buy some totes to place them in. Great idea…seriously great idea. Much neater looking too. 🙂
