Crafting for Charity with Homes.com (DIY Art Desk)

When Homes.com asked me to participate in their Crafting for Charity Event I jumped at the opportunity!

They rounded up a group of bloggers to get their diy/craft on in a friendly competition in which the winner will receive $5000 to go to their favorite charity organization!  How amazing is that?!  There’s a little something sweet in the deal for you too.  I’ll get to that part in just a bit, but first I want to tell you a little about Indian Summer Camp, the charity organization my $5000 will go to if (major emphasis on the if) my project wins.
Indian Summer Camp is a local Kentucky charity organization that started in 1981.  Their mission is to enhance the quality of life of children with cancer and their families through their camp and recreational programs.  They believe that childhood is supposed to be a time to play, learn and grow, and I couldn’t agree more.
If you follow me on instagram (carmel_ourfifthhouse), you know that a couple weeks ago my girl and I attended a local fashion show.  This show was a fundraiser for Indian Summer Camp organized by my friend’s daughter for her senior project.  A couple of the models were past camp attendees and my heart just melted.  This organization gives back to these children what cancer takes away, and I’m so honored to have the opportunity to participate in this Crafting for Charity Event.
For my project I built my girl her very own art desk.  She’s been begging me to put a desk in her room forever!  This competition was the perfect opportunity to grant her wish.

You may remember on instagram when I posed the straight or curvy leg question.

I went with the straight legs and added some curvy flowers to the desk top.

  • This is adorable!! Any young girl would be lucky to have it! Did you buy the chair that way or create it? And your choice of charity sounds great too. I will definitely vote for you when the link is available.

  • Carmel, I love what you have done with the room. My daughter would totally be jealous 😉 Just wondering about the chair for the art table. Is that a dyi project or did you purchase the chair that way? The chair kinda of looks like an Ikea chair that I have however; its just plain old wood ;( Again, I love what you have done to this room.
