Haven & Hawaii

I think I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was asked to speak on a panel at the Haven Conference this summer.  I’m on the best panel ever – no offense to any of the other speakers – but I’ll be blabbing on about social media with none other than Cassie, Courtney and Megan.  We’ve been working hard on putting our session together over the past few weeks/months, and while I’m very excited, I’m also very nervous!  I’m not exactly the public speaking type.  I almost turned down the offer because of my nervousness.  But I decided to go for it, and I’m hoping I don’t pass out when it’s my turn to speak.

The overall goal for our session is to inspire you and give you helpful tips on how to use social media to grow your blog and brand. We plan to cover Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.

*( Sorry but we won’t have cupcakes.)

I personally believe that every blog is an island and that social media is one of the best ways to help people get to your island.  Pretty philosophical for a random Wednesday, no?  Ha!  But seriously, I really do believe that social media is a super helpful tool and one that can be great fun.

I hope you plan to join us!  I’m curious to know about your feelings on the subject of social media.  What platform do you use the most?  Do you have any specific questions?  We want to make sure we cover everything you all want to know.  I’m also planning to write a recap post of our session for anyone that won’t be able to attend.

And speaking of not being able to attend, I won’t be at the conference on the second day – Saturday.  My amazing husband won a trip from his company to HAWAII!! or KAUAI to be exact.  I’m not sorry to say that I’m not sorry to be leaving the conference a day early.  πŸ˜‰  I mean would you be?  We’ve never been to any of the Hawaiian Islands so we are very excited, to say the least!  I. can’t. wait!

It’s going to be a whirlwind going from Haven to Hawaii……and a few days after we get back, school will be starting!  Say whaaaaaaaaaaat?  Where the heck did our summer go?!

  • That sounds amazing Carmel! What a whirlwind, but how exciting! Wish I was going to Haven, because I would love to attend your session and meet you in real life. I'm still learning my way with social media – need to dive in deeper!

  • Wow! That's awesome! I would definitely chose Hawaii! I look forward to meeting you at Haven and hearing all your advice πŸ™‚ Maybe the best times to use different types of social media. I have seen so many write ups about it and they are all different. Maybe there isn't a best time…xo Kristin

  • How exciting, Carmel!!! I so wish I was going just to meet you and hear your panel! You are going to be awesome, I'm sure!
I use Pinterest, Instagram, and a little bit on Facebook. I need to hook up my Twitter account to Facebook so my updates automatically show up in my Twitter feed. It all feels a bit overwhelming, honestly. Look forward to hearing your advice on the social media subject!

  • Wow, that is AMAZING! I would love to hear your talk. I know you gals will do a fantastic job. Can you fit me in your suitcase and take me along with you. I promise not to be any trouble. I don't do twitter at all, but I love to to follow bloggers on instagram and I follow quite a few bloggers on FB. Good luck girl and have a great time.

  • Yay! Yes i want to attend your session – and really, if I had never posted my blog posts on facebook I seriously do not know how anyone would have found it to read it! Looking forward to Haven ! :o) Awesome that you're going to Hawaii! have fun!

  • Can't wait to attend your session and hopefully meet you! Just have confidence, they picked you for a reason…you know your social media girl! No one is there to judge and if all else fails I'm not against a glass of wine before you take the stage! Have loads of fun in Hawaii!

  • I have to agree–BEST PANEL EVER. My favorite gals, right there! Wish I could meet y'all. I'm not a public speaker either but you're my hero for just going for it. The nervous anticipation for this type of thing is always worse than actually getting up there, right? πŸ˜‰ I'm a huge fan of Instagram & think it's an integral element to blogs these days.

Have so much fun in Kauai!! I recommend taking a Na Pali coast helicopter tour, so worth it!

  • I hope you can share all the helpful info with us non-Haven goers! I chose my yearly Germany trip over Haven πŸ˜‰ but I sure wish I could go.
    Have fun in Hawaii!

  • Girl! Look at you! You got this. Enjoy Hawaii, too. Dave and I got married there. Best place ever; you'll never want to come home.

  • I wish I could go to Haven but it interfered with Maroon 5, hands down Maroon 5 won! Plus my family vcation is a week later so…Look forward to your recap! Have a great trip to Hawaii!!!

  • We can't wait to hear you speak! I know you will do a great job. I am so jealous you are going to Kauai. I lived on Oahu and which is completely different from Kauai. I can tell you Kauai is so lush, green and a beautiful island. You will have a blast sit back and enjoy island time. It is one of the things I miss.

  • Facebook is definitely where it's at! That's where I get most of my followers. I have my Twitter account linked up to my Facebook account and I post everything from Instagram onto Facebook. I also post all my blog posts onto Pinterest and get responses from people that wouldn't normally read my blog. It's all very exciting.

I love your blog, by the way! Your home is so beautiful.
