Help Me Choose A Paint Color……

for the kids bathroom.  I mentioned last Friday that I was planning to paint the kids bathroom over the weekend.  I had yet to decide on a color, so I posted this picture on Instagram and Facebook.

And who’s surprised to hear that it’s still not painted?!  (#procrastinator #indecisive)  Clearly I need help.  The more opinions the better right?

Number 1 is the color I’ve used in both kids bedrooms.  It’s Moonstone by Olympic and it’s a neutral true grey.

Number 2 is the color I used in the basement bathroom.  It’s Inspiration Blue from Dutch Boy.  It’s a light blue-ish grey.

And last but not least is option Number 3 which is the color I used in the master bathroom and on the ceiling in our bedroom.  It’s Sandstone by Martha Stewart.  It’s a soft cream/khaki color.

I like the idea of a little house continuity which is why I’ve decided to choose a color we’ve already used somewhere else in our home.

So which color would you choose?

The fabric shown in the picture is the shower curtain and here’s a shot of the new vanity.

What do you all think  – 1, 2 or 3?  It’s always amazing to me how hard it is to pick such a light color.  I didn’t even think twice about choosing the navy color in my bedroom (Wrought Iron by Martha Stewart); but ask me to choose a light color and I’ll stare at swatches for months!  Am I the only one that has this problem?   Help a girl out y’all.

  • I vote for 2. It will go well with the shower curtain and is a soothing color I like in a bathroom. Our master bath has a similar color and we have a black vanity with carrera marble top, it looks lovely. By the way, thanks for posting the picture with the baskets on the wall in your basement bathroom. I've needed to add more high storage (with a potty training 2 year old into everything) in our kids' bathroom and using baskets like that would be perfect in there. Thanks & good luck with the paint!

  • I love 2. It is so fresh and looks great with the shower curtain. I think it will really draw out the tones in the carrera marble too.

  • First, I LOVE that ikat shower curtain! I like 1 or 2, the undertone in 3 doesn't seem quite right to me. However, I think the blue in your bedroom would be gorgeous ~ the contrast with your vanity, oooh! 🙂

  • I vote for number 3! The khaki brings out the fabric a little bit more since you have a lot of blue already. 🙂 Can't wait to see what you decide!

  • I like both 1 and 3! But am curious how #3 would look with the white/gray vanity? I think either are great colors!

  • My vote is for Inspiration Blue! I think it will be a nice slight pop of color that the first one may not provide. I think the third but I don't think it will play up the counter as well as number two…just my two cents 🙂

  • I like #2 best – it's just a bit brighter, more fresh feeling. Perfect for a bathroom. Ha – good luck with this, looks like everyone likes something different, which I think means that whatever you choose of the three will look great! So helpful, I know!

  • To go with the shower curtain probably 1 or 2. I personally prefer the second because of the blueish tint in it.

  • I have to vote for #1. It's neutral enough to allow you the option of switching out accessories (like the shower curtain) without needing to repaint anything, and without being too much of a color you'd have to tie in. It's also warmer than the blue tone, but not yellow-y warm like the beige tone.

Large expanses of light blue tones (like on bathroom walls) can sometimes feel very cold, especially with all the tile going on – not something you want in a room you will most likely be nekkid in! LOL

  • I like #2. It works very well with the shower curtain, will contrast nicely with the new gorgeous vanity, and it is a soothing color, perfect for a gender neutral bathroom. Not too girly or boyish, but just right. Options 1 & 3 are very nice but too plain. Since it's a kid's bathroom, the blue hue #2 will make it extra special. Good luck! 😉

  • You said both the kids bedrooms are painted in #1, so it sounds reasonable to me to paint their bathroom the same color. If #2 leans a little toward a bluish tint, you might hear some favoritism remarks from the female child. #1 or #2 will be great…just do it…it's only paint!!

  • I love number 1 because it will pick up the light gray accents in the shower curtain and the marble top of your vanity, then you can change shower curtains and themes on a whim and just use accessories to add great punches of color!

  • I have the same issue! It is so much harder choosing a lighter, "neutral" color than a dark or stand-out color.
My vote is for #2 but I am sure any one of the three will look great.

  • My first thought was #2. But then you showed us the paints in their element and I thought #3. Then I went back to #2 after you showed us the vanity. Hope this helps.

As for indecisiveness I know exactly what you mean. I once spent 45 minutes in the paint store trying to decide what color of "white" I was going to paint the trim in my house. It took me less than 15 minutes to decide on the wall colors…darks are so much easier to choose.

  • I would go with #1. I love a light true gray. It goes with everything and artwork looks wonderful on it. It also feels warmer in winter than blue.
