What’s On My Mind This Friday

1.  I found my first grey hair the other day!  And I’m not going to lie – I freaked out!!!!!  What the what?!?!?!?  I plucked it.  I probably shouldn’t have done that right?  I just had to get rid of the evidence immediately, but now I’m wondering if I’m going to wake up completely grey tomorrow?  I’m really not looking forward to grey hair……wrinkles I can handle, but grey hair………no……not happy about it.

2.  I’ve been taking it one day at a time, but every day I’ve been decrapifying one area of my home/life. My pajama drawer has never looked this good!

And a favorite t-shirt that I thought was lost – was found!  Woohoo!

It’s not too late to join in the fun.  Use hashtag #31daysofdecrapification on instagram and twitter.  Decrapifying is best done as a group effort  – don’t you think?  Just the fact that I told you all I was doing this has motivated me so much!

3.  Being a parent is a blessing.  It’s the hardest job in the world  – makes your hair turn grey 😉 but there are moments of pure awesomeness, for lack of a better word, that make you just explode with gratefulness.  My son said to me the other day – “Mom, I think life is like a puzzle.  We have all the pieces, but without God we just can’t figure out how to put them all together.”  Out of the mouth of babes……I don’t deserve to be his mother, but I’m really glad I get to be.

4.  Over at The Chic Site  I got to interview one of my favorite bloggers in all of blogland!  Meeting her at the Haven Conference this past summer was definitely a highlight for me!  She’s totally the real deal, and I just know you’ll love what she had to say  – so be sure to head over to read the interview.

5. I have to give a local shout out to one of my favorite vintage shops here in Lexington – Street Scene, where I recently scored this leopard coat and red velvet heels!  My leopard obsession knows no bounds, but really how could I pass this up?!

I have no idea why my hand looks like a claw?  Maybe because I would have clawed anyone who tried to take this coat away from me?  😉  #leopardcrazed  But seriously, they have the best stuff and they’re right next store to Coffee Times – oh and Another Man’s Treasure is moving in across the street!  It’s going to be a shopping trifecta!!   I believe in supporting local shops, so wherever you live this weekend give some local love.

Have a great one!  Be back Monday to show you another, while I was decrapifying project……..it leads to doing stuff – really, you should try it!

  • that coat fits you so well! and I too just recently found a grey hair and immediately plucked it out and searched for more. thankfully there was just the one, but honestly…what does this mean?!?! have a fab weekend!

  • Consider yourself lucky when it comes to gray hairs! I found my first one in high school and have had to dye my hair since college. Find a great colorist who can match your natural hair color and you'll good to go! I need to check out those Lex. stores stat, thanks for sharing!

  • The greys starting popping up for me recently (I'm 28). Couldn't believe the first one when I saw it!! Total freakout. But now that I've seen a few, I'm coming to terms with them AND with henna-ing my hair on a more consistent basis 😉 Also, your son?? What beautiful words. Truly, from the mouths of babes. Finally, that leopard coat and those red velvet heels are GORGEOUS on you. Looking beautiful Carmel!

  • Gray hair? What gray hair? Oh, you mean the ones my colorist has been taking care of since I was in my early 30s??? Oh those gray hairs. I wouldn't worry too much about just one! LOL That leopard print coat is fabulous. And, I love your sons perspective!

  • One grey hair?! I've been dying my hair for 8 years to cover the grey and I'm only 36! One sounds good to me.

I love your polka dot socks. I've got a thing for socks and my husband and mother in law always get me great ones for Christmas. I even have baseball spring training socks with cactus on them.

I also have two drawers of pajamas and I can barely fill one drawer with t-shirts. I think I've got it backwards!

  • I guess I shouldn't complain then. I think it worries me most because I've yet to find a good stylist here in Lexington so the idea that I'd have to find someone to dye my hair freaks me out a little.

And I always ask Santa to stuff my stocking with fun socks – love them so much!

  • My honey nicely pointed out that the top of my head was covered in grey hairs at a BBQ…in front of all of our friends. I just wanted to cry. 🙁 I'm over it now though, it's what happens when you have teenagers. I love those shoes, by the way! Beautiful.

  • I found my first gray hair when I was in high school. I plucked it because I thought it was blonde….then "lost" it on our white bathroom counter. Looks like you're getting some good advice in the comments already added. Be sure to follow or the check out girl at Wal-Mart will ask you if your baby is your granddaughter. I guess I was looking pretty tired that day……and at 18, she probably had a baby of her own at home and thought I looked really OLD. 🙂

  • I'm the opposite, I can handle the grey but not the wrinkles. Greys are easy to hide, the wrinkles, not so much. I'm so scared!! Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.

  • omg! that coat!!! So fabulous!! and kuddos to you for your decrap-i-fying. I have only sat here on the side lines cheering you all on while I drown in my hoards of stuff. 🙂

  • I found my first gray a few months ago! Ugh. I plucked it out along with a few others that I found upon further inspection of my entire head and have had to pull the same ones a few times now as they grow out.
