seeing the big picture

Do you ever get so focused on one thing that you miss out on seeing the big picture?  I do it all the time.  I tend to the details like a champ and sometimes even over obsess about the details, often times forgetting or failing to see the big picture.  I really want to work on that this year………..I want to be more of a big picture see-er.

In relation to my health and autoimmune issues, last year I really focused on eating healthier.  As many of you know I adopted a Paleo diet and have seen huge improvements in my health simply by changing the way I eat.  January 8th was my one year paleo anniversary……yes, I’m that girl that writes down silly important dates.  This year I want to continue on the journey to better/ improved health with a slightly different less-focused-more-big-picture perspective, so I sat down and put pen to paper.
defining what healthy means to you
(Yes, my handwriting is horrific, there’s no hope for improvement there.)  Doing this little exercise has given me a fresh perspective and my hope is that it will help me to start putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together instead of focusing on just one piece because for me being healthy isn’t just about good nutrition.  I believe healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet and exercise program.
How do you help yourself to see the big picture?

  • I love this! Oddly enough, I feel like focusing in on one thing (me!) has helped me see the big picture. I know this actually sounds selfish but I completely let myself go last year. I didn't take care of myself like I had in the past, mentally, physically, spiritually, it just all got pushed aside. This year I'm focusing on fixing that – relaxing bathes and DIY pedi's have already done me wonders!

  • I love this Carmel. I too had to make some changes this past year starting in August due to some health concerns, and have spent a lot of my time on changing my diet (and that of our family since my youngest needed to go GF as well). I need to however start focusing on the other aspects of healthy, and agree it truly is a way of living, not just the food you eat or the exercise. I spent a lot of time being everyone else's caretaker but my own.

  • I am totally a small details person. I think one of the reasons my husband and I are good together is he is big picture and I am details 🙂 I can't believe it's been a year since you started Paleo! Cheers to another healthy year.

  • first thing I noticed in the post was your pretty handwriting…. I thought it was a font! 🙂

take joy in your handwriting!! 🙂

  • you have very pretty handwriting. 🙂 My high school teachers were so glad when my parents bought a computer, because I could finally type my assignments, and they could read them. LOL I believe they called it chicken scratch. And in all the years since then, my writing hasn't improved much at all.
