You might remember when this console table lived behind our leather sofa.  Last summer when I replaced it with a mirrored table I moved this white and gold one to the hallway.  And then……for many  months……it sat there.  I never took the time to accessorize it because I knew I wanted to skirt this table but couldn’t decide on a fabric.

do you see me?  ðŸ˜‰
Enter the curtain aisle at Target – where else?  I loved the pattern and weight of this 84 inch fretwork curtain panel, and finding these decorative nail heads at Hobby Lobby was the cherry on top of this deliciously easy diy sundae.

All I had to do was measure the length from the top to the bottom of the table and cut the panel down to size.

Since it’s a curtain panel, the other three sides already had a nice hemmed edge.  I folded down the cut edge and ironed the seam.

Then I attached the panel with nail heads at the ironed seam.

I gave the corners a little pleating action by folding in the fabric.

So now I’m finally ready to decorate and accessorize – my favorite part!  And the best part is since we don’t have a linen closet on the first floor I now have a concealed storage spot for extra toilet paper and hand towels for the powder room (which is the doorway to the left in the picture below)!  Man I love gaining secret storage spots in my home!   It’s kind of ridiculous to get that excited over having a place to stash toilet paper, but I am literally that ridiculous.
And I big ol’ fat love the way these nail heads compliment this gold sunburst mirror.

Do you shop for fabric in the curtain aisle at Target too?  I still have half a panel of fabric left to play with…..oh the possibilities!

  • Looks great, I can't wait to see it styled! I recently used a tablecloth from target to upholster a headboard, now I am always looking at fabric items to be used in different ways.

  • Carmel that's crazy, I just looked at that curtain for fabric to cover my dining chairs with!! They also have pretty tablecloths for such things! I love how your table skirt came out, and those upholstery tacks that are square add such a cool detail. Cute hallway too with the stripes – I thought it was planked at first!

  • I love your blog but I preferred it as it was – it looks rather too much like a church altar to me. I understand you need additional storage but baskets with lids would in my opinion look much better. I'm from the UK, so this may be more of a US trend so you'll have to excuse me. Funnily enough this was the second email update in the space of an hour or so that was doing something similar.

  • Holy moly guacamole ! I LOVE it, gonna go to hobby lobby for a table in my office I have a love hate relationship with due to video games and husband junk on bottom shelf. Bingo!!!

  • I used 4 linen looking table cloths from Target to upholster a king size head board, make a bed skirt and matching curtains for less than $60!

  • I purchased the same fabric to have a large valance made. I used the leftovers for pillows. Love, love, love this design and your skirted table!
