what’s on my mind this friday

Well, goodbye February and hello March!  Who can even believe it’s already March?!  I for one am ready for spring; I don’t know about you all?  But I’m like, yes, please, for the love of warm weather bring on the flip flops & sundresses and the yard work…………..you know it’s been a long winter when you’re screaming “Bring on the yard work”!   😉

There’s quite a bit on my mind at the end of this last week of February, so let’s jump to it shall we?
1.  Thank you so very much for your kind, thoughtful comments and emails on yesterday’s post.  It meant a lot to me that so many of you could relate, and I also very much appreciated hearing your stories as well!  I’m not going to lie, there were more than a few times yesterday when reading your comments made me ugly cry.  The value of this sisterhood we share as women really just can’t be measured and when we stop judging and start lifting each other up, we all win!  There’s so much to be gained from not only following your own heart but in understanding and appreciating the hearts of others.  From the bottom of mine, THANK YOU!
2.  So, you all know how much I love me some Star Wars.  Well, I about flipped my lid when my hub surprised me with this random-for-no-reason-at-all gift!  I’m in love with this t-shirt!
It’s from the boy’s department at JCrew.  I wear a size 14.  I’m small in the chest department but my bootie makes up for it  😉  ……….so for any of you fellow small chesties you might want to check out the boy’s department for graphic tees.  I like kicking around in comfy clothes and their t’s last for-ev-er.
3.  You might notice the sneaks in the above picture.  I have a thing for cool sneaks; they’re comfy and casual but fun.  And while I definitely love me some old school Chuck Taylor’s and currently have these on my wish list, I love me some New Balance!
Once again I’m shopping in the kid’s department.  I wear a women’s size 5 1/2 or 6 so a kids 4 typically works, and the price of a pair of kids tennis shoes as compared to adults can’t be beat.  Plus the kids department seems to get the most fun colors.
the ones i have on in the pic above
get serious, who doesn’t love these?!
okay, you pulled my arm, add these to my cart too 🙂
4.  One of my favorite paleo sites is PaleOMG.  I pin her recipes to my paleo board all. the. time.  Well, this week I did some baking with the kiddos, and we all agreed that this coffee cake banana bread recipe is legit.
Sorry for the not so flattering phone pic, but please trust me when I say, “It. was. good!”  We added chocolate chips to ours because……….when in doubt add chocolate, am I right?  This recipe is definitely being added to our recipe book, and I’m sure it will be in regular rotation over here.  Seriously, even if you aren’t paleo or gluten free you will love this!  Who doesn’t want dessert for breakfast?
5. If you’ve ever stared at your mantel and wondered how in the world you should decorate it, check out this post.  Maybe take some notes or pin it for future reference because it’s good y’all.
My guess is after reading that mantel decorating post you’ll be in the mood to do some sprucing, so happy mantel tweaking!
Have a great weekend friends!

  • I can't believe that we are almost the same age too – bananas. Can you and your boy wear the same shirts? I just realized a few months ago that Coop and I wear the same size in tops. And of course, right before I read this, I was staring at our mantle and trying to decide how I was going to layer mirrors – this is wacky! I would have never had the nerve to put Big Horn up there without your horse inspiration. Although he is naked right now – I think he needs a nice fluffy green scarf for St. Patty's Day. Happy Weekend, Carmel!

  • I love that I can buy my shoes in the kids' department! I get all my Chucks and Vans so much cheaper that way! But I'm big in the chest, so the only kids clothes I buy are actually for my kids. Oh well, I'll take what I can get!! Happy Friday!!!
