what’s on my mind this friday

It’s Friday y’all!  Woohoo, we made it!  And the best news is we’re almost half way through March, so warm weather can’t be far behind?!  Right?!  #fingerscrossed
Alright, let’s get right to it……….here’s what’s on my mind this Friday.
1.  All You Magazine gave Our Fifth House a little shout out in their March 2014 issue.

It was a thrill and an honor to be mentioned.  Thanks so much All You…….and also to all of you who read this little blog!

2.  I had the best morning with my girlfriend this past Wednesday.  I had really good intentions of baking that banana bread I talked about a couple of Fridays ago, but I ran out of time.  Although a  simple bowl of berries with shredded, unsweetened coconut and slivered almonds was perfect for our little morning date!  I think sometimes we put way too much pressure on ourselves when it comes to entertaining and hosting.  Note to self:  simple works best.

3.  I need to end on a rather serious note as there is something weighing very heavy on my heart.  This sweet family lives in my neighborhood.
Last week their 5 year old son, Paxton, was diagnosed with stage 4 Burkitt’s Lymphoma.
He’s already started treatment and we’re all praying for this little guy.  It’s so very hard to understand why some of life’s toughest battles have to be fought by the smallest of soldiers, but he’s a strong little guy.
I’d be ever so grateful if you all would pray for healing for Paxton and keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they fight this fight.  My husband and I have been working to organize a neighborhood fundraiser scheduled for tonight to support this family.  This family really needs our help!  If you would like to donate to Paxton’s Lymphoma Fund click here.  Every little bit helps and is so very much appreciated!

  • I am keeping Paxton and his family in my prayers.
Congratulations on your feature in the magazine!
You and your husband are doing such a good thing tonight with the fundraiser for Paxton. Sounds like you have a very tight knit community.

  • Congrats on your magazine shout out.
And wishing Paxton the best and he can beat this. My husbands friend had stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma and he was able to get out on the other end. It's so sad to see children go through this.
