disney world vacation recap

Hey friends!  The Monday after a great vacation is always a little rough isn’t it?  I’m definitely moving a  little slower than usual today, but I’m beyond grateful for the laughs we shared and the memories we made as a family.  Today I thought I’d share a little recap of our trip with you all.
This wasn’t our first trip to Disney World.  We’ve been a couple of times before, and we even surprised our kids with a Christmas trip in 2012.  What can I say?  We’re a Disney loving family!  Each trip is so different, and it is truly magical every time.  #socheesey #butreallyitstrue

I grew up about 30 minutes away from Disneyland, so being able to experience the magic with my own children is really special for me.  There really is something special about a Disney trip that you almost can’t describe in words.  Maybe I’ve romanticized it a bit because of all the wonderful childhood memories I have of trips to the most magical place on Earth, but there is really nothing like walking down Main Street with your family or seeing the look on your daughter’s face when she sees her favorite princess or the look on your son’s face when he gets a plate full of Mickey Mouse shaped waffles…….that are GLUTEN FREE.  I don’t know of another place that caters to food allergies better than Disney, and for my family that really means a lot.

This time we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter, and we LOVED this resort!  It’s gorgeous!

The gluten free beignets we ate for breakfast almost every morning weren’t half bad either.  πŸ˜‰   I may or may not have booked this resort because of this one particular menu item.  Seriously, I’ve been dreaming about them since we left.

The kids loved the pool area with the slide!   The hub and I liked that this resort is on the small side so you don’t need anything but your own two feet to get around.  I also thought it was nice to have a food court rather than a hotel restaurant; it just made grabbing a snack super easy.

We spent two days at Epcot.  It’s our favorite park!  My son got this Pikachu hat in Japan on the first day and literally wore it every day of the whole trip!

We spent one whole day at Animal Kingdom.  We hadn’t ever really spent much time at this park in the past, and I really loved this park!   It’s like a zoo and an amusement park had a baby; its really cool!

Hollywood Studios may be my second favorite park to Epcot.  I’m a big Star Wars nerd, so I totally dig all the Star Wars stuff.  I’m also a big fan of the show Fantasmic.

People sometimes say that Disney World’s just for kids.  I guess my hub and I never really grew up.  πŸ˜‰

Even if my favorite parks are Epcot and Hollywood Studios, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the Magic Kingdom.  It’s the most like Disneyland, and I feel like I’m 12 years old again when I step inside the park.

We spent our second to last day back in Epcot.  My kids both LOVE Japan!

And Epcot has, in my opinion, the very best fireworks show!

All in all it was a great trip!  I feel so blessed to get to do life with these three.

  • My husband used to go to Disneyworld every 5 years growing up, but I have never been. We are going there this December! We just booked our hotel. I am extremely excited about our little Mermaid themed room! We don't have children yet, so I guess we haven't quite grown up either. Have you heard Jim Gaffigan's skit on Disney?
