I’m back with another 5 minute project! You remember a couple of weeks ago when I first announced this new summer series? Well today’s project requires 5 minutes of work time, but does require a bit more time for completion depending on your preference (you’ll see what I mean in just a second). All in all though it’s a super simple, ridiculously easy project which means it has my name written all over it! 😉
Now, I’m using the word “upholstered” loosely here because you’re not actually upholstering anything but it does involve fabric. All you need is a medium to large floor pillow, shape is up to you, and an unfinished footstool. I got my floor pillow/pouf at Target a couple of years ago, and the unfinished stool is from Michael’s.
Now, here’s where it gets tricky. (insert sarcasm) If you choose to finish your unfinished stool this will take longer than 5 minutes, you know because of the drying time; but finishing the stool isn’t exactly necessary. Like I said before it’s all about your preference. I chose to stain mine using Minwax Jacobean.
Once the stain was dry, I hot glued on some velcro to both the pillow/pouf and the stool. This way I can easily release the velcro to unzip the pillow cover for washing. If washing doesn’t matter to you, you could just hot glue the pillow directly to the stool and skip over using velcro. Either way, you’ll have yourself a simple little footrest in about 5 minutes, and the bonus is it also doubles as extra seating!
I used a little gold rub n’ buff on the feet but it’s barely noticeable.
This stool sits on our screened-in deck and is the perfect place to prop your feet up and relax!
Yay for 5 minute projects!!
Super cute idea 🙂 Looks great there!
