online art class for kids

Hey friends and happy Thursday!  I’ve been a little mia on the blog this week preparing my kiddos to head back to school.  Their first day was yesterday.  As sad as I was to see the lazy days of summer break come to an end, I’m also kind of pumped about getting back to a regular routine.
Today I wanted to tell you all about this great online art class for kids that I learned about through my mom.  A couple of months ago my mom sent me an email with a link to this online summer art camp for kids.  She thought it would be something fun for the kids to do on rainy days over summer break.  She was so right!  The great thing about this e-course for kids is that while it’s called “summer” art camp, you actually have access to the videos for a whole year!

The art course, which is geared towards ages 5 to adult, includes 5 projects with step-by-step video tutorials given by author and paper artist Courtney Walsh.   Each of the mixed media projects allow kids to cut, glue, paint, watercolor, sketch, collage and get creative.  The tutorials are great!  As a parent you can either do the project alongside your child, supervise or just set up a workstation and let your child work independently.  My daughter completed her first project over this past rainy weekend, and she is so proud of her art piece!

She was able to follow the step by step instructions with zero help at all from me!  I think these video art classes are so great for kids to learn new techniques and also to practice their listening skills.  It’s also great to have the option of pausing the video tutorial if one step takes you a little longer to complete or if you don’t have time to finish the project in one sitting.  You can totally work at your own pace.

As a mom, I’m always looking for things my children can do on rainy days.  Anything that encourages and inspires creativity is a good idea in my book!  Plus, the look on your child’s face both while they’re working and when they’re done creating is just priceless!  This special owl art piece is going to get hung in the kids’ bathroom, and my daughter is so excited to see it hung up on the wall.  She named her owl “Blueberry”.   🙂
Check out the art class here.  This isn’t sponsored.  I’m just giving all my mom friends a heads up on this creative course for kids because it’s too good not to share!

  • Blueberry is fantastic! Your daughter is a wonderful artist. Art was always one of my favorite hobbies as a kid and still is.

  • My daughter would love this, but I can't seem to find any other info about cost and such without joining. Do you mind sharing some of that info? Thanks!

  • Hi Tracy! The cost is $27 and that includes 5 video tutorials for 5 different projects. You'll get all the templates and a supplies list. I loved that because you get all the templates for the projects you can recreate the same projects over and over if you want. Hope that helps!!
