Last year I shared my trick to keeping my closet streamlined and organized. Creating clothing collections, or wardrobe capsules as some like to call them, has made such a huge difference in my life. It not only forces me to be much more methodical about the way I spend money on clothing and accessories, but it’s also helped me to really define my personal style. My closet is now only filled with pieces I truly love regardless of what’s on trend. I’ve also found that shopping in this way has made it easier for me to afford nice, quality pieces. I’m much more selective. I buy less, but I have nicer items in my wardrobe. I feel like my closet has been curated, much like my home, which makes it so much easier to get dressed every day.  And as an interior enthusiast, the bonus is I have more money for lamps and rugs……and chairs……and art. 😉
While I’ve outgrown going bananas and buying all the things during the big Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I haven’t outgrown the love of a good bargain. 😉 While we were in California last week I stopped in to shop the sale in person, but the shopping madness was just too much for me. I turned right around and decided to shop from the comfort and convenience of my Nordstrom phone app. God bless technology!
My favorite peacoat is back again this season in four great colors – black, camel, hunter green and oxblood. I bought the red when it was available in 2014 and have been so impressed with the quality of this coat for the sale price (it’s $38 right now!).

Last year I had planned to add the hunter green to my coat collection during the sale, but it sold out before I had the chance. I’m not making that mistake again this year. The hunter green will be perfect with my dusty pink, brown and olive clothing collection.
It’s a little heavier and warmer than my army jacket but not too bulky which is key for me in a winter coat. This coat is juniors sizing so size up one unless you’re small on top (read flat chested) like me. 😉  If you’ve been wanting to add a peacoat to your wardrobe this is a good one, and you just can’t beat the less than $38 sale price. It’ll go back up to $58 when the sale is over so grab it now!
The other main item I snagged is one I’ve been wanting for-ev-er. It was a bit of a splurge, but I’ve been saving for a pair of Frye boots for a really long time. I told the hubs not to get me anything for Mother’s Day, and Santa also skipped over me last Christmas……other than the 4 chocolate bars and Star Wars pj’s in my stocking. 😉  These Frye boots are the type of boots you buy and keep for the rest of your life, so I really didn’t feel bad saving up to make this purchase. I was pretty stoked to see them on sale for $120 less than the normal price, so I went ahead and added the cognac color to my shopping cart. I can. not. wait to get them…….and now I’m really looking forward to cooler weather. These boots will go with everything from dresses and skirts to leggings and jeans.
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is the one sale I shop every year. It’s a great time to add some nice pieces to my wardrobe collection at really great prices. This is also the only store where I’m a card holder. Being able to shop the anniversary presale is so worthwhile as things sell out so quickly! The sale starts this Friday but cardholders have early access. With so many great items included in this sale it was hard to make a selection but I stuck to my closet goals and only added items to my cart that I know I’ll love for years to come. The chambray lover in me just couldn’t pass up this dress, and I’ve been wanting a good pair of black wedge sandals for a while so these also jumped in my cart. The four items I purchased this go around I know I’ll have and wear for years!
I rounded up a few of my favorites from the sale. Are you a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopper?

I’ll be back tomorrow with a little house tour of my mom’s Southern California home! I hope you’re having a great week friends! I can’t believe our summer is almost over. I’m in complete denial and absolutely refuse to go near the school supplies aisles at Target! Long live summer break!
I just ordered that coat in black 🙂 I’m hoping I like it! I’d love to really pull out my clothing from my closet this Fall and weed out stuff. That’s on my list of things to do. I feel like I’ve been collecting a lot of random stuff over the years. Time to be more intentional I think and also get rid of stuff that doesn’t fit or is out dated 🙂 Thank you for this post!
