My Favorite Things & A Birthday Giveaway

*****This Giveaway is now closed.  The winner has been notified via email.*********

Hey friends!  Today is my birthday!!!!  While many women shy away from revealing their age as they get older I’m over here like……”Let’s party!”  “I’m 38 today!”

tina fey sisters

(from the hilarious movie Sisters #tinafeyismyspiritanimal)

I feel like every year gets better, even with all of the ups and downs that life brings.  I’m grateful for another year to learn, to grow and to live life to the fullest.  Growing older is a gift not all are afforded.  So I celebrate every grey hair and every wrinkle in memory of the grandmother I never got to meet.  When you’re the daughter of a person who lost a parent at a young age I think you look at life a little differently.  You hold a different perspective on aging.   Listen, I’m not saying I don’t want to look my best and age gracefully.  I just want to always remember to be grateful for every day I’m given, and gosh darn it, I’m going to celebrate every. single. birthday.  No matter what age I am.  I’m going to be proud that I get to be another year older!

38

So with that in mind I’m celebrating Oprah style with a list of my current favorite things!  And, there’s a fun giveaway for one lucky reader at the end, so don’t bail on this post too soon.  😉  We’ll be back to the usually scheduled programming tomorrow.

  1. At the moment, I’m digging Alicia Keys version of Wild Horses featuring my main man Adam Levine.  It’s not new.  I think it was recorded in 2014, but I’ve been listening to it a lot lately.  They make such a great duo.  If you haven’t already, you need to download it.  Seriously, you won’t regret it.
  2. Hands down, the best new show on TV this fall is This Is Us.  You all, if you’re not watching it you are missing out big time!  It’s just…..it’s everything.  It’s so stinking good!  Tuesday night TV is finally good again!  Insert the praise hands emoji!
  3. The Starbucks app pretty much changed my life.  And no that’s not overly dramatic at all. beautycounter scarlet (Favorite Red Lipstick – Beautycounter Scarlet)
  4. Trader Joe’s gluten free chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing (pictured up above) are the best gluten free store bought cupcakes I’ve ever had.  Even non gluten free people love them!
  5. Speaking of Trader Joe’s if you haven’t tried their dark chocolate batons you’re not living right.  I’m just slightly obsessed with the raspberry and espresso.  Thank you Lord for dark chocolate!  Can I get an AMEN?! trader joe's dark chocolate batons
  6. You know what goes great with good dark chocolate?  Rosa Regale sparkling red wine that’s what.  Oh sweet nectar of the gods….. it’s good y’all, really good.  I’ll take it for dessert over any baked good all day, every day.
  7. Switching away from food and beverage, which I could talk about for days, A Thing Created is one of my newly found favorite Etsy shops for art prints, stationary and giftables.  I just ordered this phone case for myself.  The shop is filled with all kinds of whimsical, Kate Spade-esque cuteness.A Thing Created Phone Case
  8. I’ve been loving the look of long vests.  I went to a girlfriend’s Cabi party last week and ordered a long black vest.  It’s similar to this one.  I love how a structured long vest adds an immediate pulled together look to a basic white tee and jeans rig. It feels very sophisticated, very I’m in my late 30’s but I’m still stylish.  😉 long black vest
  9. One of my favorite Instagrammers to follow is Emily from Miss Molly Vintage.  She and her husband recently bought a fixer upper and the renovation is just gorgeous.  Y’all are missing out if you’re not following her!  This is her pantry people!  Her pantry! Miss Molly Vintage
  10.  Speaking of pantries, lately I’ve been loving the look of painted pantry doors.  I’ve been waffling back on forth on whether or not to paint mine, but I think I’ve finally decided to just go for it.  It’s just paint right?! painted pantry door
  11. These red suede shoes are so much better in person, and the bonus is they’re comfy. red suede shoes
  12. Someone put my life’s motto on a tea towel! hm tea towel
  13. Our old toaster died a slow death.  We finally brought in a new one.  I love it when good design meets function. red smeg toaster
  14. Doesn’t matter how old I get, my idea of a good time will forever be hot Starbucks + no kids and an hour to wander around Target.  Whatever, call me old and boring, but that is my favorite pastime.
  15. Okay so with that said, if you combine my favorite pastime with my favorite holiday item from Beautycounter and my favorite mascara, which also happens to be from Beautycounter you get one awesome giveaway for one lucky reader. Beautycounter holiday

One lucky winner will receive:
