When designing a space, I almost never start by choosing a wall paint color. I’ve found that you can always find a paint color to work with your rug/curtains/bedding/sofa/whatever, but you can’t always do that in reverse. I typically bring in the rugs and art, even most of the furniture that will go into a space before deciding what color to paint the walls. Admittedly I usually have an idea of where I want to land paint-wise. Typically I know whether or not I want to go bold or more neutral, but the exact shade is almost always selected last. Â Case in point our master bedroom.
Art and Rugs are Here!
When last we left off, the bedding and night stands were in the space. Â Now the art and the rug for the sitting area have arrived!
I fell in love with this abstract art by Angela Simeone for Minted  and knew it would be perfect with the black, white and blush color palette.  This piece is going to really help to define the sitting area from the bed in this large rectangular room. I layered in a light cowhide to further set this little seating area apart.
Wall Color Options
I had originally wanted to go with white walls.  I thought white with a black ceiling would bring in a modern feel to counterbalance the traditional four poster bed.  But now I’m having second thoughts.  Builder beige has never been a favorite of mine, but it’s not a bad look with the art and the light colored cowhide.  It’s really soft and warm looking, which isn’t a bad thing for a bedroom.
That being said I still think white would be a nice contrast with the dark wood tones even though I’ve decided to steer clear of a dark ceiling in here. Â I want to keep things light and bright. Â However I do think a soft grey on the walls might bring that modern feel I’m craving while also adding a little masculinity to a space that has a definite feminine vibe.
So at the moment, I’m a little up in the air on a wall color for our bedroom. Â With the main players now in place the only things left to bring in besides curtain panels are a few small pieces of furniture and accessories, so I’d really like to nail down the wall color before going any further.
1, 2 or 3,

So help me decide y’all! Â Should I go with white, grey or do I dare to leave the builder beige?
I think choice 3 would be a great! White is too stark for your art and chairs.
