Happy 4th of July to my fellow American friends!
I hope your day is filled with family and friends, sunshine and sparklers, and all the red, white and blue your hearts can handle! Â I’ll be spending the day with neighborhood friends and gearing up to enjoy fireworks, but first a few things that have caught my attention lately.
Is Target Trying to One-up Ikea?
I think this new Made By Design line is great, but am I the only one who immediately thought everything looked like Ikea? Â I mean, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but it’s weird right? Â Or am I the only one that thought that?

At any rate, I’m in love with the black hangers. Â What I really like about them is I that the metal hook is black and not silver. Â I kind of want to switch all my hangers to these, but then I worry they’ll be discontinued and I won’t be able to keep ordering more when needed. Â And the type A in me just can’t live with mismatched hangers in my closet, yet somehow doesn’t seem to care one bit about the amount of sand currently on the floor board of my car. Â Just me?
Found an Online Source for My Office Desk
I get questions about the burl wood desk in my office all the time.
It’s a beauty and is absolutely one of my favorite pieces of furniture. Â I bought it at a local home decor and furniture store, GDC Home, but I recently stumbled across an online source. And it’s currently on sale! Â This is actually a dining table that I use as a desk, which is great because as I recently blogged about ~Â Â I won’t have an office in our next house. Â So we’ll be using this table in our dining space.
Check Out this CB2 Burl Wood Table
This CB2 table is very similar but half the price! Â Love how it looks paired with all white chairs!
Gilligan & O’Malley Strikes Again
The Gilligan & O’Malley line of pajamas at Target is the best. Â I’m telling you, they are the softest, cutest pjs ever. Â And you can’t beat the price point, plus they’re currently 20% off. Â These ruffle pj pants are so cute and comfy, I want to wear them as pants!

Should’ve Been Named ‘Miracle Worker’
I’m serious.  This new Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel delivers such great results it should have been named ‘miracle worker’.  And I’m not the only one who thinks so.  Check out the testimonials in the product reviews on the site!
Formulated with 15 botanically-derived acids, this leave-on AHA/BHA peel improves skin texture and minimizes the appearance of pores, fine lines, and dark spots without irritation or over-drying. Glycolic, lactic, and malic acids clear away dull surface skin cells, while hyaluronic acid and essential fatty acids soothe and nourish to reveal a brighter, more youthful-looking complexion.
And it’s formulated without synthetic fragrances, PEGs, and formaldehyde-based preservatives commonly found in peels. Â Insert praise hands.
An Interesting Post on the Globalization of Design
Last but not least, this post really caught my attention. Â I’m curious what your thoughts are on the topic. Â Is sameness swallowing uniqueness? Â Or have design trends always been a global thing that we’re now just much more acutely aware of because of social media? Â Didn’t everyone have shag carpet and avocado green appliances in the 70’s? Â Or was that just my parents house in Southern California? Â This is such an interesting conversation. Â The post and the comments section are definitely worth a read!
Love the burl table, think it would look good with an 1830 Welsh dresser we bought in England in the 90″s ? I am looking for something to replace our old table and hate matchey matchey! Now what ever will you do with that great PB table you have?
Happy 4th!
