Last Minute Patriotic Table Setting (Red, White & Blue)

Even though I’m not hosting any 4th of July festivities in my home this year I still wanted to throw something patriotic together in the breakfast room.  We’ll be here to enjoy a simple breakfast for just the four of us before heading out to celebrate and watch fireworks with friends.  Plus, red, white and blue is my all time favorite color combination and in case you don’t already know the 4th of July is my favorite holiday – yes, better than Christmas – crazy, but it had me at fireworks.

That being said, since it’s just breakfast……… and just the four of us………. and we just got home from a week long vacation………. I just threw something together very last minute and without spending a dime.

It’s very simple but totally festive.

I used a fabric scrap as a wrong-way runner.  It’s not hemmed or ironed – no one cares.  My fabric hoarding comes in handy sometimes.  I braved the heat and clipped some greenery from the yard to stuff into this red pitcher I already had (Target).

These mini flags I’ve had for years and usually use them outside in planters on our deck and patio.  To hide the dirt-stained sticks I stuck them in a mason jar that I wrapped with another scrap of fabric.
The giant mason jar was a Target purchase a few months ago.  It’s been sitting on my table for a while now.  To give it a festive look I tied on a chalkboard marker (Willow House) and used red, white and blue chalk ink pens.

I took the hearts off of the grapevine wreath I sprayed red back in February for Valentine’s Day and hung it with twine from the drapery rod.

The red melamine plates I bought at Target last year.  They’re perfect for all patriotic holidays and great for birthdays and casual Christmas parties too!  The blue check napkins I bought from Pottery Barn during a Memorial Day sale.  I’m a sucker for all of those sale e-mails!

The pinwheel picks were also a Target find around Memorial Day.  Raiding the dollar section has some perks.

My girl loves these things!
We’re so blessed.  We often take our freedom for granted.

I hope we never forget the sacrifices that have been and continue to be made.

I’m the daughter of a purple heart awarded Vietnam Veteran.  He is one of a few good men.  My grandfather served in the army during the Korean War where he met my grandmother.  I am so proud to be an American on this day and always, and I’m eternally grateful to all who have served this great country of ours!

Have a wonderful 4th of July!
