Blush & Red – White Christmas Tree

With the Christmas tree in our upstairs family room donning all the keepsake and handmade ornaments, I get to take some creative liberties with our living room tree.  It’s fun having two trees in the house!  Since I live for a themed tree but also love a tree that is decked out with collected treasures and pieces my kids have made over the years, having two trees feels like the best of both worlds.  Plus there is just nothing better than the glow that Christmas lights add to a room!  Last year’s living room tree had a bejeweled thing going, this year is all about my current color crush combination!  This year the living room is sporting a blush and red white Christmas tree!

A Blush and Red Christmas

This blush and red combination with a hint of gold might be my most favorite tree I’ve ever done.  It’s simple and sweet with a feminine, vintage vibe yet feels really fresh and modern.  Basically I’m in love with this combination of colors and styles!  I could sit in this room all day!  I teetered back and forth between getting a fresh tree or going with a white one, and I’m really happy I went with my gut and chose the white.  The white backdrop really allows the color of the ornaments to shine.

The Ornaments

Most of the ornaments came from my crazy ridiculous holiday stash (just me?), but I admit I fell hard for the blush mercury ornaments I found at Lowe’s Home Improvement!  Seriously you all, they were just too pretty to pass!  And I couldn’t believe how well they were priced!  I also verbally gasped out loud (yes, I’m that crazy shopper) in the store when I ran across these blush paper ornaments in West Elm.  They are no longer available online, but my store had bunches of them so you just may find them.  They add some depth and dimension to the tree, and the bonus is that they fold flat for storing.  Score!  I love adding to my holiday collection without adding to the bulk!  Amen, right?!

The satin ribbon I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  Not in the Christmas section, the fabric department with all the other ribbon and trim.   I just love a brown paper package tied up with a big red satin bow!  It just screams MERRY CHRISTMAS to me!  Plus I love bows in general so I decided to tie a few on to the tree.  Ribbon is an easy, inexpensive way to add some color and interest to a Christmas tree.

I tried to get Elsa to sit still long enough to tie a big red bow around here neck, but she just wasn’t having that nonsense.

I know white Christmas trees aren’t for everyone, but gosh are they the prettiest when they’re lit.

  • Oh my word, I would have never thought of blush and red together, but it is stunning. Love your tree.

  • I have never really cared for White Christmas trees but after seeing yours I have now changed my mind. Your tree is beautiful! Thanks.

  • I actually am seriously contemplating on this color scheme for next year and you have just inspired me even more! Love it Carmel!

  • It’s a fresh take on the traditional red at Christmas time. It’s a romantic look but it feels modern enough against the white tree and all the black and white elements in the room. Glad my hub was on board. 😉

  • Thank you for the lovely tour. Hello beautiful Elsa. After 23 years, I’m on my second Christmas without the pitter patter of miniature schnauzer paws around the house. I don’t realize how much I miss them until I see one and I can’t stop looking at her. Merry Christmas!

  • Awww – we love our mini! We also have a standard schnauzer that we love just as much. He’s not as patient for photos. 😉
