Christmas Front Porch Decor

I decided to keep our Christmas front porch decor really simple this year.  Mostly because, if I’m being totally honest, I want it all to be easy to put away come January.  Just keeping it real with you all.  😉

I use a lot of the same decorations every year, but I do like to give things a fresh take.  So this year I busted out a can of red spray paint and gave a couple of old black planters a holiday makeover.  These outdoor pre-lit Christmas trees (from Lowe’s) are three years old, but the larger bright red planters are giving them a whole new look this year!  The original black bases they came with fit inside perfectly.

The magnolia wreaths are new this year from At Home Stores.  I hung them with the same black and white striped ribbon I used for my fall wreaths.

I was liking this super simple look…..until nightfall.  In the dark, I felt like the two trees by the front door looked a little lonely.

There just wasn’t enough twinkle you know?  So I decided to bring out just one more pre-lit tree.  (The one I used in my living room last year.)

And that was the cherry on top of my simple Christmas sundae!

I just love this time of year!

  • It looks really nice. I really like the wreaths, and the red pots. This is probably a weird question, and maybe it’s just the lighting or camera, but do you have special glass or film over the front door windows so that outsiders can’t see in? I’ve seen products like that online, and just wonder if they really work.

  • Hi Linda,

No this is just because of the lens I used to take these photos. The glass has no privacy. Honestly, it doesn’t bother me at all because our front steps are so high (elevated home in a coastal area) so you can’t really see in unless on you’re standing on our front porch. So from the street it’s too high up to really see anything, if that makes sense.

  • Beautiful! For me, you can’t have too many little white lights. It is hard to believe this is your 4th Christmas in your Charleston home!

  • I really like the simple clean look of this. I have gone back to a simple clean natural look now that my granddaughters are past the cute decorations stage. Your porch looks great!

  • I looks great! I too have decided to keep it simple this year… lol question, what is the color of your front doors? I love them!
