I bought our master bedroom nightstands a few years ago at a local furniture shop. They were a tad too short, but I knew that could be easily remedied. And then years passed, and I did nothing to raise the height of our nightstands. Ha! Why do we always put off the easy fixes? Or is that just me? Well……this past weekend I finally knocked this simple project off my list!
Here’s a look at the before.

The general rule of thumb is to have your nightstand level with the top of your mattress or within two to six inches higher. Ours were a few inches too short. It’s very hard to see in that photo above, but these nightstands had bun feet under the skirt. So I knew I could pretty easily swap out the bun feet for a taller leg.
The trick was finding a leg that would match the style of the nightstand. I looked all over online, and ultimately ended up finding the perfect size and style at The Home Depot.
All I had to do was unscrew the old feet and screw in the new ones! This was literally done in 5 minutes.
Now I just need to decide if I should stain these legs to match the wood or maybe paint them black to match the bed. What are your thoughts? Let’s hope it doesn’t take another couple years for me to get around to staining or painting them. Ha!

I really love the way these legs look! I think they look even better than the original bun feet.
The Home Depot has a pretty large collection of furniture legs online. Many more options than what they carry in their stores. Here are a few other options I considered.

Check out this post for details on how I painted our four poster bed.
I vote stain. ?
