Who’s ready for a little clean beauty show & tell?! While salons and spas were shut down and with some extra time on my hands at home ;), I discovered a few new brands and products that have become fast favorites! As many of you already know, I like my products like I like my people ~ nontoxic! In no particular order, here’s the rundown on my new clean beauty favorites!
Madison Reed Hair Dye
Well, I finally did it. I had to, y’all, my greys were getting out of control! So with salons closed, I had to get serious about finding an at-home solution and one that passed my clean ingredients check list. And…….that was not easy to find! I did tons of research! And when it comes right down do it, if you’re truly looking for a product to perform more like a traditional hair dye, Madison Reed is one of the cleanest options currently available. It’s not completely clean, but it’s clean-er than the vast majority of boxed hair dyes.
Their permanent hair dye is free of ammonia, PPD, resorcinol, parabens, and phthalates. And it was super easy to do at home! Plus there were no strong fumes! I dyed my hair right before my niece’s wedding in June, and I’m so pleased with the results!
Tenoverten Nail Polish
My at-home manicure game is definitely not salon quality, but in these desperate times I am getting a little better. 😉 And over the last few months I’ve fallen even more in love with Tenoverten’s long lasting wear! This minty color is especially fun for summer!
Tenoverten is 8-free, as these nail polishes do not contain: dibutyl phthalate (dbp), toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, or triphenyl phosphate (tphp).

Ilia Beauty – Liquid Light
The most fun recent addition to my makeup bag is Ilia Beauy’s Liquid Light in Nova. Liquid Light is part highlighter – part serum. This gel-based formula gives skin the luminosity of a highlighter with the benefits of an anti-pollution serum that protects against free radicals. It’s hard to describe how pretty it is on skin! You can wear it alone or mix it with your tinted moisturizer or liquid foundation, and I’m just slightly obsessed!
Beautycounter’s Skin Twin Foundation
Speaking of foundation, Beautycounter recently introduced a new liquid foundation that mixes makeup with skincare. And I’ve been referring to it as an “instagram filter in a bottle”.
Because, well, just see for yourself. Here on the left I’m wearing just my Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer, and on the right I have on the new Skin Twin Foundation (in medium 350). This foundation covers so well without it looking like you’re wearing a heavy face makeup, and it’s actually good for your skin!
Because it’s formulated with a potent dose of hyaluronic acid it visibly plumps and smooths skin immediately, and it also helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines over time.
EcoTools Flat Foundation Brush
Just as a good paint brush matters when you’re painting a piece of furniture, a good makeup brush matters when applying foundation! And this EcoTools flat foundation brush delivers a smooth, medium to full coverage! I picked it up a couple months ago when Beautycounter introduced this new foundation, so that I could compare the results of using a flat foundation brush to a round foundation brush. And I’ve found that both the round and flat give you a smooth, flawless looking finish, the difference is in the coverage they give. Fuller coverage? Go with a flat brush. Medium Coverage?
