In classic if-you-give-a-pig-a-pancake fashion, deciding on a new exterior louver color (I’ve decided to go with grey, and this pic below gives you a little preview!) snowballed into a little garage door facelift. This was a super quick makeover, and I’m so thrilled with the results!
Before
We have a side-entry garage, so when we were building we decided to go with very simple garage doors that fit nicely into our budget. And the same goes for the lighting over the doors.
But I always thought that copper hardware would look great against the black doors, so I decided to grab a can of this hammered copper spray paint by Krylon and bring that idea to life!
But of course, this made the teeny, tiny oil-rubbed-bronze garage lights really stand out like a pair of sad, sore thumbs.
I considered this incredible lighting upgrade. But I just really didn’t want to spend that much, so I went with the cheaper chicken option. Once again busting out that amazing hammered copper spray paint, the hammered finish is just so key in my opinion, and gave these more affordable lights a custom look.
After
And ta-da! For less than $150 I gave our garage doors a makeover, and love the fresh, new look so much!
It’s always amazing to me how much of an impact paint and lighting can make.
I’m just so thrilled with how this easy, little project turned out, and I really love the way the copper accents play with the pink, grey, and black color palette of our exterior.
Coming home to this view is making me so happy! And now I can’t wait to see the rest of the louvers get repainted in a softer grey!
Are you working on any outdoor projects now that the weather is starting to warm back up again?
