Just got back from Lake Toxaway, and I’m already itching to go back! We stayed at the most gorgeous home while we were there, and I can’t wait to give you all a little tour today!

18 summers. Man, they go by faster than you think!
In a short couple of months, I’ll be moving my boy into his dorm room. I still can’t believe it! So when I started thinking about our summer plans, I knew I wanted to get at least one big multi-generation family vacation on the books. My Father-in-Law passed earlier this year, and well, how many more of these kinds of trips will we get to have? With my mother-in-law and brother-in-law in Kentucky, Lake Toxaway was a great meeting place! It’s a little closer to us here in Charleston than it is to Lexington, but not by much. About 4 ish hours from us and 5 ish from Lexington makes for an easy day trip!

This beautiful home in the mountains overlooks the lake, and the views were INCREDIBLE! The house has a cozy, cabin-chic vibe. If a Nancy Meyer’s movie was set in the North Carolina mountains above Lake Toxaway, this house would make for the perfect backdrop!

I mean, doesn’t it just ooze with coziness? It doesn’t feel like a vacation rental. It feels like a home away from home!

And you can appreciate the amazing views from every single room in the house.

Did I mention no humidity? The air was crisp and the temperature was absolute perfection! Such a great summer respite from hot, humid, buggy Charleston.

The house boasts 4 fireplaces! There are two screened porches and two living rooms, so even with such a large group of us, there was plenty of space.

Two bedroom suites are on the main level and there are two bedrooms plus a bunk room on the lower level! So 8 adults plus kids sleep very comfortably. And all of the rooms wake up to a beautiful view if you choose not to close the room-darkening shades.

All of the bedrooms are decorated beautifully with very comfortable bedding. I’ve got to find out what sheets the owner uses and report back to y’all because they felt like butter! But my favorite room in the whole house has to be the bunk room! It’s like being at camp but with mattresses that are actually comfortable!

Right outside the bunk room is the second living room. And did I mention that this home also has two kitchens? You can catch a glimpse of the second kitchen in this photo below. If you want to bake cookies and brownies at the same time, no problem! 😉

The owner of this home has really thought of everything. Truly, it’s like staying at a friend’s home rather than renting a house. Every appliance you could possibly want or need is there, the kitchens are so well-equipped! But the house goes so far beyond function, there are so many lovely nooks that make the house feel welcoming. It’s not at all your typical vacation rental. You can tell that the owner really took the time to make this place feel really special.

All of the bathrooms, of which there are 4 1/2, flow with the vibe of the house and are well stocked with fresh towels.

The lower-level screened porch has a very comfy swing bed that many of us really enjoyed.

My niece and her husband both work from home and had no problem logging in from here. The wifi worked perfectly, giving new meaning to casual Friday.

There are lots of outdoor things to do in Lake Toxaway – hiking, boating and other water activities, golf, etc. But of course, I found a great antique store, Mantiques, in nearby Brevard where there’s a farmer’s market on Saturdays and an incredible cafe, Mayberry’s, where all of the soups were gluten-free and I got the most delicious grilled cheese and pesto sandwich on gluten-free bread.

With two kitchens at the house and so many in our party, we mostly ate in, but we did enjoy eating at The Grand Olde Station one night, which is right across from the lake.

All in all, it was a really wonderful, super relaxing, memory-making few days!

And I’ve fallen in absolute love with Lake Toxaway!

And I can’t wait to go back and stay at this house again. If you’re looking for a mountain retreat with lake views – definitely check out What A View, Lake Toxaway. It’s hard to accurately capture the sunrise and sunset views, but they are truly breathtaking. You can check out more pictures and details about this vacation home here.
