My Book Is Out in the World!

Well friends, it happened! The day I’ve dreamed about since I was in 6th grade writing in my journal has finally arrived. My book is no longer just an idea or a file on my laptop, If These Walls Could Talk is officially out in the world, on actual shelves, in actual homes, and in actual hands!

And it feels both surreal and deeply personal.

When I was younger, I dreamed of writing fictional tales (because when you’re twelve and obsessed with Anne of Green Gables you imagine yourself writing like L.M. Montgomery). What I never could have predicted is that decades later, I’d write a book about home design. But the funny thing is, it honestly makes perfect sense. Because what I often loved most in my favorite childhood stories was the setting. It was the homes that my beloved fictional characters lived in that really came to life for me.

And all these years later, I truly believe that home, as I write in my book, is the setting of our life story.

But If These Walls Could Talk isn’t your typical decorating book. Because here’s the truth, I don’t consider myself an expert in interior design. Rather what I am is someone who is passionate about the process of creating unique, personality-filled, collected-over-time spaces. So, this book is not about following design rules or achieving a particular design style. It’s not about “getting it right”. It’s about PERSONALITY > perfection! It’s about creating a home that looks and feels like YOU!

And that’s exactly why I wanted to write this book. Because I know what it feels like to get overwhelmed by decorating advice that feels unattainable or intimidating. So I wanted to create something approachable, encouraging, and most of all, FUN! Because creating a home should be a joy-filled process!

My hope is that when you flip through these pages, you’ll find more than just design inspiration; you’ll find permission. Permission to be bold, to break rules, and to make your home unapologetically YOU!
